Regarding svn and the license:
Upstream has the source available on their downloads page:
http://www.last.fm/download/
And their public svn repository contains the source for released
versions of the newer client. It is currently here:

I've reported a bug against the current svn version of the lastfm

It appears there will be no upstream support for this, judging from
the first reply I received.
