You can try to use "jpilot-dump -B" to see what happens. You may

Then I changed it to just plain Big5, but then there was lots of
garbage on the screen. And it didn't stop the Gtk-CRITICAL message
either.
Anyway, with UTF Big5 eveything works ok, I just see the ugly message
on the terminal.
