Sorry, posted to quick. The package lsb-base is the culprit.
An eval has been removed from the start_daemon routine.
This bug should be reassigned to lsb-base.

Commenting out line 96 bypasses the error. Clearly the
empty arguments are causing the error.

As per subject, pan allows one to download a encoded binary posting and
view it in a preview window. Image size seems to play a part, smaller
images still render ok, but larger onase paint the top portion, then fill

Installed libattr1_2.4.35-1_i386 via aptitude ugrade and saw above
symptom. Rolled back to 2.4.32-1 and problem went away.
