e thread (tuannb86) reported the same problem. So there are definitely multiple
users facing this issue.

Please see below bug report. When scim is selected as the Keyboard Input
Method in 14.04 Unity, the Dash stops working. This could be related
with the current bug as well.

typing in Nemo file browser.
For example if one is renaming a file in Nemo using scim, then the
backspace and delete keys are dysfunctional.
