such sky observer software on an old Pentium MMX 166 MHz 20 years ago,

The Xfce text editor should use the Xfce configuration backend, xfconf,
not dconf, the GNOME ones. At least with xfconf, we would be able to
manualy edit the setting in ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/

I'd like to second this request. Gstreamer argues to be a
Freedesktop standard and a Freedesktop standard should
not require any Gnome components like gconf.

WebKitGTK+ 1.1.13, 1.1.14, 1.1.15 and 1.1.15.1. So using your Ubuntu package
(v1.1.14) does not resolve it at all. The only work around is to downgrade to
WebKitGTK+ 1.1.12 from testing, but

Same behavior here since the recent hal update. Consolekit and
policykit are installed. If this can help, I don't use any display
manager like GDM, XDM, SLIM, etc. I start Xfce with startxfce4.
