I had this problem as well. As a workaround it helped to delete the old
index:
rm /usr/share/man/index_*
And build a new one:
perlindex -verbose -index

The .deb descriptions are generated automatically. That proces would have to
be adapted to include the important notes from the dictionary file.

This is a life sign from upstream :)
Fixed the spelling in CVS, for afr-eng as well. Also shortened the description
in the gencontrol.py used in the package build process. I'm working on a
rerelease, but will need a sponsor or better a new maintainer. Till then any
packaging changes will remain
