Hi,
a similar problem now appears in sun-java6-plugin (6-17-1).
If bindv6only is set to 1 many java applets can no longer be processed
properly. A simple example is the java installation test located at
http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1. The applet
fails to load and throw
Yes indeed. I removed /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstlv2.so and the
affected applications were able to start again. Dup confirmed.

Doing some research lead me to bug report #519340.
Invoking gnome-settings-daemon on the command line using parameters
--debug and --no-daemon showed up the following error message:
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstrea
Here is some additional information that could help to narrow the number of
possible reasons down a little bit (at least I hope so).
The following packages were upgraded right before gnome-settings-daemon stopped
working:
gstreamer0.10-esd 0.10.16-1 -> 0.10.16-2
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.13-
