The note-taking feature seems completely broken - according to the manual
(viewable by pressing F1), I should be able to press n, ctrl-number or
right-click to takes notes in a cell, but none of these have any effect. T
I ended up installing by using the graphical installer, using the mouse
to select all the defaults, and then setting account passwords with a
rescue CD after installing, but that shouldn't be necessary at all!)

I spoke too soon.. it's still broken. I don't see any way for udev to
call the tascam_fw script (or the tascam_fpga) and set the $PRODUCT and
$DEVICE variables the way the script expects... For now, i think I'll
just specify them manually, using ENV in the udev rules file, but that's
certainly not
Ooops.. my bad - I didn't have the usbfs mounted in /proc/bus/usb! I had
assumed that would be done automatically with a new install, but it was
never put into the fstab. Sorry about that!
