I spoke too soon.. it's still broken. I don't see any way for udev to call the tascam_fw script (or the tascam_fpga) and set the $PRODUCT and $DEVICE variables the way the script expects... For now, i think I'll just specify them manually, using ENV in the udev rules file, but that's certainly not a long-term fix.
