Bug 734233 seems to suggest that this symptom is expected if ruby 1.8 is
used. It seems that dhelp still has a versioned dependency on ruby1.8,
that it explicitly calls ruby1.8, and that it installs its files into
the ruby1.8 directory structure.

I see similar visual symptoms. On my laptop the hibernation procedure
appears to write the image to disk for some (very reasonable amount of)
time, and then freezes while still showing the desktop.
For me it also appeared with the upgrade from kernel 3.11 to 3.12, and I
am using Jessie for alm
