I see similar visual symptoms. On my laptop the hibernation procedure
appears to write the image to disk for some (very reasonable amount of)
time, and then freezes while still showing the desktop.
For me it also appeared with the upgrade from kernel 3.11 to 3.12, and I
am using Jessie for almost all of my packages. Hibernation (by calling
pm-hibernate) works fine if I boot the 3.11 kernel.
Both my swap and system partitions are luks-encrypted, and I also have a
system76 laptop. I do not know what similarities or differences exist in
hardware between my lemur ultra and the gazelle pro, but I can of course
provide logs and other pieces of information if that would be helpful (I
am not attaching any now, as I am unsure which ones might provide any
additional value over those already provided by Russ).
I also see the problem with pm-suspend as described at
<http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2195562&s=62d57e4bdf255ff73e721bbe9614e631>,
where it was reported for arch and ubuntu, and the solution proposed
there was also a kernel downgrade.
Regards
Johan
