I login via xdm. Never had a problem with previous versions

Oh! Nice work. (I built my own last night, though... 8-P )

Thanks for the test build.
I just tried it, but the behavior remains unchanged: kernel freezes

OK, I bisected from 1 PM to 6 PM today. I ended up building 16 kernels
which would have seemed like a LOT, except for how many I built on
Saturday night and all day Sunday!
I used my custom '.config', instead of the enormous Debian stock

Ha ha ha... I was afraid you would say that.
This all started for me last Thursday: I bought 2 new 500GB drives
for this server machine so I could play with RAID and learn how it's
done. I deci
I've taken this search for a bugfix about as far as I can,
without outside help. Nothing that I've tried has allowed
me to create a 2.6.26 kernel for my "fileserver" machine with
the boot parameter "hpet=disable". That also includes the
stock 2.6.26-1 kernel. (On my "desktop" machine, both stock

FYI, I had the same problem with 'xfce4-session' this morning on a newly built
machine. The upgrade from 4.4.2-3 to 4.4.2-5 caused XFCE to freeze while
trying to load, and downgrading to 4.4.2-3 fixed the problem.

I just upgraded from Etch to Sid, and was playing with
the same version of 'compiz' as the OP. I also prefer
XFCE, and ran into the same problem with 'compiz
--replace' not being able to run
'gtk-window-decorator' (from pkg 'compiz-gtk') because
the script requires an environment variable that wil
I saw (and installed) xfprint4_4.4.2-2_amd64.deb enter

is the matter still under investigation?
I did see a previous message to 'pkg-xfce-devel':

OK, I was delayed against my will, but I have now
successfully installed Sid. (I needed to write up
some last notes and perform some backups first.)

I have been configuring my printer, an old HP DeskJet

Then why does it say "below"? Should I file a bug
