Ha ha ha... I was afraid you would say that. This all started for me last Thursday: I bought 2 new 500GB drives for this server machine so I could play with RAID and learn how it's done. I decided to check the drives with 'badblocks' first, not realizing how long it would take. (After 18 hours, the return of the shell prompt with no message let me know that all is well.) Friday I was distracted by real world activities, and only managed to find out that the "RAID" feature on this motherboard is "fake RAID" and read a bunch of documentation about how software RAID works with Linux. Saturday I noticed that Debian sources for 2.6.26-1 had appeared on Sid, so I made the (fateful) decision to test it to make sure it would compile on my machines. One of my 3 machines is not usable at the moment, but on the first machine all went well -- the kernel compiled and ran just fine. Then I tried it on this machine, and since Saturday night I have been trying to figure out what went wrong. Bisecting with git, huh? OK, just because I've never done it before doesn't mean I cannot learn. Since I used up all of Sunday trying to find a solution, I don't want to waste the effort I've put into finding the bug so far. I have 2 more days off, so I'll put in just one more day trying to pin it down. I will not be posting any more messages about this bug here unless I actually discover something. I will be moving to the LKML in the meantime, since I will be working with their sources directly. Thanks, Dave W. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
