the vm is W98SE. It remaps the keys as follows:
down arrow - windows menu
left arrow - ??? cursor disappears
right arrow - ignored
up arrow - ignored

I just had the same problem with my Canon 630U - when using the Debian
Kernel 2.6.22-1-k7 with having USB_SUSPEND enabled the scanner isn't
