It is clear that there is no concensus on this issue. It is not a
technical problem with the code, but a question of opinions. Because of
this, I set severity to wishlist.

Which specific font(s) are you having the issue with?

I am indeed experiencing the same issues since the last upgrade. I
noticed, however, that some buttons are still there and useable, but
they are simply invisible unless hovered or clicked (i.e., they only
lack text). Especially modal dialogs are entirely unusable, though.

It appears that src:silx FTBFS at present too. The failure is during
building the docs with python3.10, meaning that this failure predates
python3.11.
The failing line is:
