Package: hdf5-filter-plugin Version: 0.0~git20221111.49e3b65-2 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts
Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from 'testing'. It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a Breaks+Replaces relation. See policy 7.6 at https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#overwriting-files-and-replacing-packages-replaces >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Preparing to unpack .../hdf5-filter-plugin_0.0~git20221111.49e3b65-2_amd64.deb ... Unpacking hdf5-filter-plugin (0.0~git20221111.49e3b65-2) ... dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/hdf5-filter-plugin_0.0~git20221111.49e3b65-2_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hdf5/serial/plugins/libh5bshuf.so', which is also in package bitshuffle 0.3.5-4+b1 Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/hdf5-filter-plugin_0.0~git20221111.49e3b65-2_amd64.deb Is my understanding right that src:hdf5-filter-plugin supersedes src:bitshuffle? Then please RM the obsolete bitshuffle package. If bitshuffle is to be removed, the B+R against it can be unversioned (unless you have a virtual bitshuffle package provided somewhere). cheers, Andreas
