I've had a quick chat with upstream about mapnik-viewer, and he confirmed
that mapnik-viewer is not production-quality code, with not much testing and a
bit buggy. It would be best if we removed this package from Debian.

I’m sorry, but I cannot reproduce this bug at all. I tried with tk8.4
and tk8.5, and it works with both.
It turns out I do not even understand the error messages, as I have no
grasp of Tcl/Tk.
