This patch seems to resolve the issue with reconfiguring the network.
I am not sure it it might cause other problems. The script might rely
on the routes through the interface going away which would no loner be
the case after applying the patch I guess.

I think, you should merge my bugreport with #373846 and close this one. I can
confirm the same behaviour here on my system.
Thus i will try to fix it, like Steve told. Hope it works.
