I've done some more fiddling, and if I use an snmpconf generated config that
isn't based on the existing /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf, I can walk the host fine.
I'm yet to do a line-by-line analysis of the out of the box config and a

to use initramfs, and not it if uses a regular initrd, when /proc,
/dev/pts and /dev are mounted, umount -a hangs. strace shows it has
called umount syscall
