Cygwin. Right now Cygwin install does not work in intranets, limiting
its usefulness.
Cygwin install works fine offline, you just have to download the Cygwin setup
program and either package arch/release directories or else a package download

Hello,
I need to install cygwin on some machine not connected to internet so I did
everything I found over the internet on the subject.
But despite I "download without installing" ALL packages from a normal machine

Hello,
I have cygwin running on a box that does not have an internet

If you want to update, or just freshly install, Cygwin on a system
that does not have a direct internet connection, then you could try
"pmcyg" (http://pmcyg.sourceforge.net).
pmcyg will allow you to maintain a partial mirror of the Cygwin distribution,

I don't see why. If the directory is duplicated precisely I don't see
how it could matter.
What I was referring to here was to just copy the cygwin local package
directory that contains setup.exe and the http% mirror directories, not
the directory that contains installed cygwin. When I moved

I have win7 64-bit computers set up in another location. It would seem
that the easiest option would be to make sure that one of those is up to
date and then just tar up the cygwin directory and move it. I have also
found that you can just tar up the local package directory and then run

Copy this stuff over to an USB drive. If you want to use the 64 bit
release, there's setup64.exe already in the cygwin/64bit directory.
If you want to use the 32 bit release, you also have to copy
http://cygwin.com/setup.exe to the USB drive.
Now, on the offline machine, plug in the USB drive

I don't remember how I installed the cygwin package that is on that

Why not, be smart and download the cygwin setup.exe and packages specifically
built for 64-bit systems and then transer it over to your non-connected 64 bit
machine with a flas

the current cygwin install off of my XP 32-bit machine and drop it into

Hi
I think my problem appeared after upgrading to cygwin 1.7.7 but it might have
been present before that as well, I am not sure.
I'm using a file share with Offline Folders such that I can access it when not
connected to our intranet. In cygwin I cannot remove any files that I create on
Hi, everyone
Thanks to Jon(X-free ML), I solved the problem of installing boxes.sh,
libglade2.0.sh and all the doc*.sh scripts.
Now there are still some errors.
1. exim.sh
No errors appears in the setup.log.all
2. font*.sh
All errors said "fc-cache: failed to write cache".
3. plotutilssh
As previously announced (http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2009-06/msg00901.html),
the 'pmcyg' tool allows a personalized collection of Cygwin packages
to be created together with all the supporting files necessary
for a self-contained off-line Cygwin installer, e.g. for burning onto
CDROM or DVD.
