I wasn't blaming Cygwin. :-) I was just hoping the astute people on
this list could help me with this problem.
Another Google search today ("windows cmd slow") found the problem. I
should have been searching for that instead of for Cygwin. Anyway it
turns out to be a problem specific to Lenovo.

Thanks for the pointer. However it seems strange that I'm having this
problem now since I didn't have it before when I first installed
Cygwin and I was using it for awhile. I only noticed the problem when
I switched drive letters though I'm not sure if that's the reason.
