It's now part of pacman-contrib. You can find stuff like that by using
pkgfile.
You don't even need pkgfile for this (anymore).
You can try "pacman -Fys paccache".

I may be missing something, but is there a chance that the bios just
doesn't wait long enough for the disk to turn on?
On some laptops this sometimes happen to me when trying to boot an USB
harddisk. The disk isn't detected at all by the bios, but generally
rebooting with the disk already turned on

I also had trouble finding it. By the way, take a look at the HookDir
option in pacman.conf if you write your own hooks (see man pacman.conf).

By the way, if you decide to switch to bbswitch-dkms + nvidia-dkms, you
will probably face the same issue I faced yesterday with the nvidia card

I found that when starting the dkms service, every dkms module is loaded
right after, even the ones that are blacklisted.
The behavior is avoidable by adding the '-b' option to modprobe, in the
dkms start script (/usr/lib/systemd/scripts/dkms), line 26.
