To remove any doubts, just take a look at /proc/cpuinfo. With 4 cores and 8 threads, I have 8 entries in there. The "processor" is ranging from 0 to 7 (aka threads) while "core id" (aka cores) from 0 to 3. If you grep it, it will (kinda) give you the thread-core mapping. % grep "processor\|core id
