I'm using x4500 MHD with the latest X server and xf86-video-intel
driver, commented load module section in xorg.conf to leave X server
automatically do it, with KMS enabled too. It can successfully load
dri and dri2 module(seen in Xorg.log.0).
Everything seems work fine till now. Gnome with compiz
A lot has changed in X lately... GEM, DRI2, without even talking about
kms...
So many things has changed that its hard to diagnose where the problem might
be. It could even be many problems... :S

Got a bit of network weirdness going on here. 2 different Arch laptops,
an old one and a new one, with completely different hardware (and also
i686 vs. x86_64), but both are completely up to date with the latest
repos. On the old (i686) one, "iwlist scan" works fine from the command
line, as
what if the problem may not be the intel or nvidia drivers, but the way all of
those drivers might be interplaying with the latest new xorg?
Because I am seeing significant slowdowns in my X environment overall with the
new xorg (I use xfce), and my use the nvidia driver.

Are you talking about darcs, the distributed revision control system?
I thought 'arch' and wrote 'darcs' :)
Thanks for your report!

Same problem here. It seems using
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
in the device section of xorg.conf solves the problem

another thing...I think Bug Wranglers should have access to that list.

Hi all,
I just fully upgraded on two of my machines. These packages related to xorg
were updated:
[2009-04-14 12:36] upgraded xf86-input-evdev (2.1.2-1 -> 2.2.1-1)
[2009-04-14 12:36] upgraded xf86-input-keyboard (1.3.2-1 -> 1.3.2-2)
[2009-04-14 12:36] upgraded xf86-input-mouse (1.3.0-1 -> 1.4.0-2)
The Arch's stock kernel (as any other kernel) will always be enough: What
this "special" kernel does is only to build used module inside the kernel,
reducing the loading time.
It's a lot of fun and you learn a lot about the linux kernel and your own
machine by doing so, but this does not diminish
Ah. Yes, knetworkmanager0.7-svn does work. It looked like it wasn't
when I tried it yesterday.
Thanks!

Also, there is a custom Arch kernel for Eee somewhere on AUR, iirc.
It's optimized for the system and rather nifty from what I hear. My
friend tried it with great success.

I have an EeePC 1000 and it works fine with Arch. It's running KDE 4.2
without problem. You'll always need to tweak those small machines since they
are not that powerful. For example you might want a lighter DE then KDE,
like XFCE or LXDE.

Hi,
Do you had any experience using darcs on these
small Eee-like notebooks? Is there someone I
should avoid? Do you think those which come with
Linux instaled are always sure to run any Linux
distro?
Thanks,

My sound module's (snd-hda-intel) been broken in ALSA for a while now.
Was working around the problem by keeping myself on kernel 2.6.27, but
finally gave that up this week (for various reasons) and now I'm without
sound again.
Tried using OSS instead, but that didn't work either (no headphone
