[Bug 348332] Re: [RV250] Kubuntu: X Freezes with Radeon driver EXA/XAA Composite

2009-05-14 Thread zeroathome
Kernel 2.6.29-02062903-generic seems to have fixed the issue...no freeze
for 6 hours now on my x1700 mobility with enabled compositing...

Desktop effects are back (hopefully) for good :)

[Bug 393769] [NEW] Segmentation fault on execution

2009-06-30 Thread zeroathome
Public bug reported:

Running on
Ubuntu Jaunty 64-bit (tried i386 also with same result) Mainline Kernel 2.6.29
(tried Jaunty standard kernel with same result)

ClustalX crashes directly after executing it:

$ clustalx
[1]21502 segmentation fault clustalx

Here is an old Debian Bug Report describing the same issue:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=429480

Versions of clustalx and deps are:

clustalx: 1.83-4
lesstif2: 0.95.0-2.1ubuntu1
libvibrant6a: 6.1.20080302-4
libncbi6: 6.1.20080302-4

Tried to downgrade to lesstif 0.94, but it made no difference. Tried on
multiple jaunty installations, all with the same result.
Precompiled static binary of the current version does work (did not yet try to
compile it myself:
http://www.clustal.org/download/current/clustalx-2.0.11-linux-i386-libcppstatic.tar.gz

If you need more info, feel free to ask :)

[Bug 348332] Re: [RV250][JAUNTY] X Freezes with Radeon driver EXA/XAA Composite

2009-05-05 Thread zeroathome
Running on following hardware using the radeon driver:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M66-P [Mobility
Radeon X1700]

I noticed that the freezes aren't random, mostly they are happening when
"minor" windows are being opened, e.g. the progress bar when installing
a new package...can somebody confirm this behavior?

Disabling desktop-effects solves the problem for me.

The kernel image jtholmes suggested has no effect on the problem here.

Did not try the X.org 1.5.2 packages. Think I'll give the mainline
kernel a shot in the next days...

[Bug 274661] Re: Firefox freezes with various Flash Uploaders from different web pages

2008-10-27 Thread zeroathome
Same here,

Intrepid amd64

firefox: 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
flashplugin-nonfree: 10.0.12.36ubuntu1

about:plugins:
Dateiname: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12

Same Problem with picnic and the others. Plus a non working flash-
uploader in Wordpress 2.6.x, despite it doesn't freeze. It just won't
open the file chooser.

[Bug 293215] [NEW] When opening a file from dolphin gvim doesn't take over the correct path info

2008-11-03 Thread zeroathome
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim-gnome

Scenario:

This is happening on Intrepid (8.10) amd64

vim-gnome package version: 1:7.1.314-3ubuntu3
dolphin package version: 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu4

- Mapped the file-association of .tex files to gvim
- Opening a .tex file from dolphin (or konqueror)
- Trying to use some features from vim-latexsuite (e.g.: :call Tex_ViewLatex()
for viewing the compiled document in an external viewer)
-> commands have no effect, because gvim thinks its still located at the
standard path (/home/user) which can be confirmed by running '!ls' from the
vim-command-line.

Problem doesn't exist when I run gvim from the command-line. '!ls' then
shows the path where the edited document is located and gvim/latex-suite
works as expected.

Don't know if its really a gvim issue or more a dolphin/konqueror/kde
issue...

[Bug 293591] Re: Kalarm has no window decorations

2008-11-06 Thread zeroathome
I'm using KDE4.1.2 on Intrepid amd64 and am experiencing the same issue.
No window decorations for the Kalarm main window. Options and all other
related windows have decoration. Just the main-window is affected.

Source: kdepim
Version: 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu2

Kalarm internal Version is 2.0.4

[Bug 250757] [NEW] Old dkms modules are not removed when upgrading fglrx

2008-07-22 Thread zeroathome
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dkms

When upgrading fglrx-drivers the old dkms-entries in /var/lib/dkms/fglrx
are not removed. This leads to the following error message(s) on
startup:

/etc/rc2.d/S20dkms_autoinstaller: line 82:
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.471/source/dkms.conf: No such file or directory
/etc/rc2.d/S20dkms_autoinstaller: line 82:
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.476/source/dkms.conf: No such file or directory

because the folders under /usr/src were removed during the upgrade
process (/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.476/source/ links to /usr/src/fglrx-8.476
for example), so the dkms.conf files can't be found.

With the command 'dkms status' you'll get something like the following:

dkms.conf: Error! No 'DEST_MODULE_LOCATION' directive specified.
dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_NAME' directive specified.
dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_VERSION' directive specified.
fglrx, 8.476, 2.6.24-16-generic, i686: installed
dkms.conf: Error! No 'DEST_MODULE_LOCATION' directive specified.
dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_NAME' directive specified.
dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_VERSION' directive specified.
fglrx, 8.471, 2.6.22-14-generic, i686: installed (original_module exists)
fglrx, 8.493.1, 2.6.24-17-generic, i686: installed

If i remove the old entries by hand, the error is gone, without any
markable disadvantages.

This happens on the following system:

Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

with

dkms:
  Installiert:2.0.19-0ubuntu2
  Mögliche Pakete:2.0.19-0ubuntu2
  Versions-Tabelle:
 *** 2.0.19-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

By now I am installing fglrx by hand with the installer from the ati-Website
following this instructions:
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Hardy_Installation_Guide,
but i read that it also happened with the fglrx-package from the repos when you
upgrade from gutsy to hardy for example...

I hope i did not forget anything important, for this is my first bug-
report, if so, let me know and i'll try to provide additional
information!

[Bug 147972] Re: Kernel boot hangs on IRQ in Gutsy with Thinkpad X21

2008-09-22 Thread zeroathome
Same Problem as the Thread-Starter, though the problem occured first after
upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy.
After clearing the HDD i can't even boot from a Linux-CD (tried Ubuntu,
ArchLinux, Suse...all in several versions, from old to the latest Intrepid
Alpha iso). WinXP doesn't finish the installation, Win2000 works fine...

Tried lots of boot-flags (noapic, acpi=off, pci=routeirq) with no
effect.

On ThinkWiki there some suggestions that it might be the integrated
Ethernet-Card
(http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_on_a_ThinkPad_X21),
though after disabling it in BIOS bootup still wont finish. After
removing the Card from the System boot from CD is successful. I'll
replace the card as soon as possible and report afterwards...
