Running on following hardware using the radeon driver: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M66-P [Mobility Radeon X1700]
I noticed that the freezes aren't random, mostly they are happening when "minor" windows are being opened, e.g. the progress bar when installing a new package...can somebody confirm this behavior? Disabling desktop-effects solves the problem for me. The kernel image jtholmes suggested has no effect on the problem here. Did not try the X.org 1.5.2 packages.
