[Bug 301873] [NEW] Undo/Redo Function in Tomboy

2008-11-24 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

Although it is possible to undo an action in Tomboy with the shortcut
command 'cntl z' and redo an action with 'cntl+shift z', it would be
convenient to include this function in the right-click menu when editing
a note. Many computer users expect this sort of functionality to be
readily available without having memorized a bunch of shortcut commands.

To Reproduce:
- Open a new note in Tomboy. Start typing something in the note, then delete it.
- Right click on the note

Expected Result:
- The right-click menu should have 'undo' command to restore what you deleted

Actual Result:
- The right-click menu doesn't have commands such as 'undo' or 'redo'

** Affects: tomboy (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 9.04
Qt: 4.5.0

can't tell you which one's since I cannot start Amarok), every time I
try to start Amarok it crashes. Here is the backtrace:

[Bug 371895] [NEW] Flash Sound in Firefox (or Epiphany) not redirected to USB Speakers

2009-05-04 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 9.04
Gnome: 2.26.1

When I plug in my USB speaker, the system recognizes it and I can set it
as my main speaker through System->Preferences->Sound. The sound of most
applications is redirected to my USB speakers, but anytime I play a
flash video in a web browser (either Firefox or Epiphany), the sound
does not come out of my USB speaker, but is played out of the normal
speakers connected to my computer. It appears that either flash or
firefox do not respect the sound settings in gnome-sound-properties.

TO REPRODUCE:
1. Plug in USB speaker
2. Set "Music and Movies" to play sound out of usb speakers using
gnome-sound-properties
3. Open Firefox, go to Youtube and play a video

EXPECTED RESULT:
- The sound of the Youtube video should come out of the USB speakers

ACTUAL RESULT:
- The sound of the Youtube video comes out of the normal speakers attached to
my computer (and not the USB speakers)

[Bug 192888] Re: firefox crashes on flash contents when using libflashsupport

2008-09-28 Thread wvarner
alecwh,

I was having the same problems with Flash on Hardy as you were, so I
recently went ahead and updated my system to Intrepid (in part because I
was continuously annoyed with this bug). From my experience it appears
that this problem has been entirely fixed for 8.10 (at least on my i386
machine) - I've been surfing flash embedded websites for the past couple
of days, and I've yet to have a single unwanted crash. Yay!

The setup I have is straightforward: Flash has been updated to
10.0.1.218+10.0.0.525ubuntu1, libflashsupport is uninstalled, and I
don't have anything like nswrapper installed (which was mentioned above
as a possible fix, but never seemed to work for me).

So it appears your problems will be fixed when intrepid comes out -
which is just around the corner!

[Bug 243167] Re: kdenlive crashes with SIGSEGV upon starting

2008-07-11 Thread wvarner
Same problem here in Hardy (also, upon installing, it does not insert
anything into the menus). One workaround I found in some forums is to
open it by running the following command: 'kdenlive -nograb' (worked for
me). Here is my terminal output from simply running the 'kdenlive'

[Bug 278415] [NEW] krecipes crashes before it can launch

2008-10-04 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

I'm running the beta version of Intrepid. I installed krecipes

[Bug 242563] [NEW] The bundled ie6 in wine only shows a blank screen

2008-06-23 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

TO REPRODUCE:

Install wine version 1.0.0-1ubuntu2~hardy1
$ winecfg [- this initializes wine and populates ~/.wine]
$ cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Internet Explorer
$ wine iexplore.exe
A window pops up titled "Wine Internet Explorer" and tells me it needs to
install the Gecko engine. I say ok and it downloads it and installs it.

EXPECTED RESULT:

Wine Internet Explorer displays all the buttons that ie6 normally
displays and allows me to browse the internet

ACTUAL RESULT:

The Wine Internet Explorer window is black, not showing any buttons or
any way to browse. I've attached a screenshot.

[Bug 242567] [NEW] When I hit "Print Screen" it should let me choose to take a screenshot of the whole screen or the active window

2008-06-23 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

When you hit Print Screen it defaults to printing the whole screen. If
you type Alt+Print Screen then it prints only the active window. The
thing is, I didn't know that Alt+Print Screen prints the active window
until I was filing this bug report. It would be helpful if when the
dialog popped up asking you to save it, it gave you the option of taking
a screenshot only of the active window (for the many of us who don't
read the documentation first).

[Bug 258899] Re: Flash videos on sites such as The Daily Show stopped working

2008-08-18 Thread wvarner
To answer your questions:

Yes, the bug is reproducible. The problem isn't that flash sometimes
doesn't work on this site, but that as of a week ago it hasn't worked
once. To reproduce, go to www.thedailyshow.com and try and watch any
videos.

Flash Version: flashplugin-nonfree
10.0.1.218+10.0.0.525ubuntu1~hardy1+really9.0.124.0ubuntu2
Java Version: sun-java6-jre 6-07-3ubuntu2
Firefox extensions (and I've tried to disable them to get it to work, but
without success): adblock plus, cookiesafe, Ubuntu Firefox modifications.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 217366] [NEW] Arrange desktop icons by name, size, type, modified

2008-04-14 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

I'm used to having lots of icons on my desktop. The way I've grown
accustomed to finding the one I'm looking for is by right clicking the

[Bug 217373] [NEW] Report date modifed when over-writing a file

i upgraded to the newest version of Thunderbird

older version in the repos is incompatible with the newest version of
Thunderbird. This means I can't use my calander now until the newest
version is made available in the repos. shouldn't these all be released

[Bug 984603] Re: Skype video freezes right after few first frames

2012-07-02 Thread wvarner
I was experiencing the same problem with the program 'motion', and
researching the web I found this little tidbit that solved the problem
for me.

"I finally managed to solve this issue by adding my user to the 'video' group...
Code:
sudo adduser video"

[Bug 875629] [NEW] cannot set multiple library locations in Rhythmbox 2.90.1

2011-10-16 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

in previous versions of Rhythmbox, one could use gconf-editor, navigate
to /apps/rhythmbox, click on "library_locations", and insert multiple
directories. Rhythmbox 2.90.1 has moved away from gconf to gsettings,
and now there is no obvious ways to set multiple locations for the
library. using dconf-editor, i have looked though how to set multiple
locations, but cannot find any way to do it. a helpful link to the
problem i'm having can be seen in this thread too:

As suggested in #106, I disable the MTP plugin in Rhythmbox, plugged my
camera back in, and it was properly mounted. That seemed to be the
problem for me. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with all updates installed.

[Bug 576178] Re: problem mounting Nikon Coolpix s203 camera in 10.04

2010-09-25 Thread wvarner
Here's what fixed it for me. First, here's my dmesg:

[277743.548038] usb 3-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 12
[277743.682292] usb 3-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

[277748.012082] usb 3-4: usbfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd gvfs-gphoto2-vo rqt

[277752.028052] usb 3-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address

I found in another bug report that disabling the MTP plugin in Rhythmbox
worked for them. So I tried it, plugged my camera back in, and it was
properly mounted.

[Bug 667449] [NEW] evolution doesn't apply filters after startup

2010-10-27 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have set a couple of filters on my incoming IMAP mail account. I have
also enabled them to apply automatically through the Preferences > Edit
> Receiving Options tab. When I start evolution, it applies the filters
as expected and everything is fine (so the problem isn't one of
correctly configuring the filters). The problem is that subsequent
messages (the ones I receive after starting evolution, while its
running) during the same session are not filtered. If I apply the
filters manually (Messages->Apply Filters), then they are properly
filtered. It is as if evolution only applies the filters when evolution
first starts up and when I manually apply them. Any help would be
appreciated. If I can provide any further info please let me know.

So in order to get Blogilo working, all I need to do is install the
libqt4-sql-sqlite package? Works! Thanks for the workaround.

[Bug 595561] [NEW] Drag and drop of playlist on external device doesn't do anything

2010-06-17 Thread wvarner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Use case: I have a Sansa Clip that I use as a portable media player. I
want to create a playlist (either pls or m3u) on my desktop computer and
transfer it to my device by dragging my newly created playlist and
dropping it to my Sansa Clip device.

Expected results: Rhythmbox populates my portable media player with the
songs in my playlist, and copies over the playlist to the device
reformatting it using relative links so it properly links to the music
files on my device.

Actual result: Can't drag and drop playlists to music device (this
appears to be unsupported).

Work around: The only way I've found to make a playlist on my portable
mp3 player, is by creating a new directory on my desktop computer,
dragging all the files I want copied over to that directory, creating a
playlist of that directory using something like easytag (making sure it
uses relative paths), opening that playlist with rhythmbox to arrange
the songs in the order I want them, then copying that directory (which
includes my playlist to my Sansa Clip. A lot of work!!!

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
