[Bug 77374] Re: Crash when launch www.marabu-kreativ.de
Thank you for reporting this bug. However, I will change the status in "fix released" as I can not reproduce this bug in neither Hardy nor Intrepid, neither on x86 or AMD64 (Flash 9, 10 RC1). Check out Ubuntu 8.10, due in 4 weeks. Hope to see you back using Ubuntu, then. ** Changed in: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- Crash when launch www.marabu-kreativ.de https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/77374 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 162984] Re: [needs-packaging] Nimbus GTK theme
Nimbus is extremely professionally designed, wr to usability and beauty. Together with some other colour scheme than the ugly brownish style (my personal opinion and opinion of all people I moved over to Ubuntu so far, no offense intended) this could be a real competitor against Mac OSX appearance. I already did some Nimbus packages ad offered them, but simply packaging is not enough as some versions had some little rough corners that came from the OpenSolaris desktop layout. [Bug 162984] Re: [needs-packaging] Nimbus GTK theme
A nice person called wiz has started to provide packages via his/her PPA: https://launchpad.net/~wiz/+archive However, his/her packages also suffer from the problem of not really being customized for Ubuntu - the Application menu icon in the upper tool bar shows the Opensolaris Community Icon with the arrow pointing up cause the icon is used in Opensolaris for the lower tool bar etc. But nevertheless a first step - Nimbus is by far the most beautiful and professional theme right after Aqua and fits nicely to the Ubuntu colour scheme except of the brownish colors (which are dead ugly, IMHO). [Bug 59695] Re: default value in power.sh potentially kills laptop disks
All 3 of my laptops are also affected. The suggested fix with "hdparm -B 180" however does not work for all harddrives. On my HITACHI_DK239A-65B (old Notebook drive in my Thinkpad 600E) for example, it does exactly the opposite when the laptop was set into laptop mode - it then starts frequent harddrive access every 10 sec which are otherwise turned off when in laptop mode. I have to turn OFF S.M.A.R.T with smartctl -s off /dev/hda and then to start laptop-mode AND in order to stop all unneccessary HD access. By the way, this is my reload_cycle number for this 9 yr old harddrive, used as my webserver: 225 Load_Cycle_Count0x0012 100 100 050Old_age Always - 1627390049 Lovely :-) What is this numer - billions? Seriously: I think that marking this severe issue as "Wishlist" is inapproprate. [Bug 147250] [Gutsy Alternate CD] Alternate install CD (both x86, AMD64) not booting on HP NX6325
Public bug reported: The x86 as well as the AMD64 alternate installation CD is stops booting immediately after the kernel is being loaded (when switching the screen). So if I remove quiet from the kernel parameters, I see all the kernel messages, but immediately after that the screen goes black, and system can only be restarted (Ctrl-Alt-Del works). I tried several kernel paramters but that did not help. The problem exists for the Beta CD set as well the following daily builds. I had no problem with the daily builds before Septembre 24, 2007. Installed systems seem also still to work, also the LiveCD does boot (well at least until Gnome gets started, but this is another bug). [Bug 99810] Re: mozilla-plugin-vlc: symlinks for Firefox are in the wrong place
The suggested fix works, I confirm this for 7.10 on AMD64. The bug should be considered high profile as in Germany, the state TV has expanded its online offerings to Open Source users, using VLC for non-Windows-Users, responding to respective demands from Linux users. Ubuntu however is the only OS/Linux distro where people can still NOT access the online broadcasts and therefore is damaging Ubuntu reputqation here in Germany badly. In short: This bug really sucks and needs urgently to be fixed for Gutsy release. Otherwise, we risk Gutsy being ripped apart in German computer magazine tests in Oktober/November as it fails this test. http://www.heute.de/ http://www.heute.de/ZDFmediathek/content/9280?inPopup=true ** Attachment added: "Ubuntu users have to choose WINDOWS Media Player since VLC and Quicktime do not work" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9520354/Bildschirmfoto-http%3A--www.zdf.de%20-%20ZDFmediathek%20-%20Mozilla%20Firefox.png -- mozilla-plugin-vlc: symlinks for Firefox are in the wrong place https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99810 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 205282] Re: Java-Dependency links still to Java6 which is not working on amd64
This is really an easter egg, folks: You are right, I did not see bug #203636. And no, there now no reasons to use java7 instead of openjdk6 as openjdk6 also works on amd64. However, restricted-extras 12 referred to sun-java6-jre which did not work in Firefox on amd64. I confirm this regression (it worked in 7.10 and Hardy in Alpha6) for Hardy amd64 on HP Compaq NX6325. Attached is lspci -v, dmesg looks the same like the others... I also tried to copy the firmware used in 7.10 (which seems to be the original Broadcom FW) to /lib/firmware/b43/ucode5.fw but I got something like a format error. Obviously this ucode5.fw is another firmware (OS?). It did, however, refuse to work in G-Mode, gives you only 11 MBit / B-Mode. Re: [Bug 68275] Re: Optical Microsoft USB Mouse not recognized in installed Edgy
Hello Vassilis, yesterday, it happened again once after rebooting. Absolutely strange, because I rebooted several times before and after that without problems into Edgy. So there is still a problem with the Microsoft Optical USB Mouse, but I can not reproduce it reliably. My guess is that is is less a kernel module problem but more a problem with upstart/udev/udev/xorg. It did not occur during the early testing stage of Edgy. Since it occurs not often, it is not severe, but I do not like such problems that can not really reproduced but do exist Best regards, Christian 2006/10/27, Vassilis Pandis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > Thanks for reporting this! > > ** Changed in: linux-meta (Ubuntu) >Status: Unconfirmed => Fix Released > > -- > Optical Microsoft USB Mouse not recognized in installed Edgy > https://launchpad.net/bugs/68275 > -- Optical Microsoft USB Mouse not recognized in installed Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/68275 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 70718] Re: gnome-obex-send cannot find devices
In order to work around this problem, you therefore can add the hciconfig command that Marcel mentioned to /etc/rc.local, between the comments and the exit command. See the atached example. ** Attachment added: "sample /etc/rc.local that sets the old inquiry mode during boot up" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5724465/rc.local -- gnome-obex-send cannot find devices https://launchpad.net/bugs/70718 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 82674] Re: Let post-install create and pre-uninstall remove the PDF queue
I *think* the person who added this to the feature request means that there should be a printer device / printer queue automatically selected and installed after having installed cups-pdf and removed when un- installing the package. Currently, as far as I know (have not checked feisty yet), you first have to install cups-pdf and then you need to go to the printer setup and select the printer-device from the list etc. In order to have a PDF printing functionality as default, this last step (selecting and activating the PDF printer device) needs to be scripted. The perfect solution would be IMHO to check first if there is another printer device already installed. If no, make PDF printer the default printer; if yes, just install it but keep the existing printer as the default printer. Read here how complicated it is to use the PDF printing functionality the first time. I think that still fails the grandmother test :-) https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PDFPrinting?action=show&redirect=forum%2Fsoftware%2Fcups-pdf http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=188860 -- Let post-install create and pre-uninstall remove the PDF queue https://launchpad.net/bugs/82674 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
