Does this problem still occur? I had the same issue on 7.10, on a HP Evo n600c with a SAMSUNG HM121HC hard drive but was able to partly solve it by disabling the S=XX parameter in /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf (commenting it out) and setting accousting management value to the value hdparm -I recommended.
The HD still locks up sometimes but less frequent and for a much shorter time. I had the same error messages "abnormal status...." before but now they are gone, the HD just freezes for maybe 30 sec (before up to 5 min). -- ATA Abnormal status https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
