[Bug 196900] Re: [fglrx] Ati x1600Pro White screen on activating compiz
Hi! My compiz was working just fine with my hardy 8.04, ATI catalyst 8.5 drivers and my Mobility Radeon HD 2300 until I updated my system with the following packages today: desktop-file-utils (0.15-1ubuntu3) to 0.15-1ubuntu4 gnome-about (1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu2 gnome-desktop-data (1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu2 gthumb (3:2.10.6-0ubuntu4) to 3:2.10.8-0ubuntu1 libgnome-desktop-2 (1:2.22.2-0ubuntu1) to 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu2 Then I got the same issue as described above: white screen when logging in. I then deactivated compiz and all was fine. Whenever I try to reactivate it I get the white screen. I am pretty sure the problems occured after installing the updates mentioned above, but it might also be due to some updates I did yesterday. They seem a bit more related to the graphics card, but I don't use fgrlx - I use the proprietary driver from ATI and I have rebooted after having installed these without any white screen appearing: gecko-mediaplayer (0.6.0-0ubuntu1) to 0.6.0-0ubuntu1.1 gtkhtml3.14 (3.18.1-0ubuntu1) to 3.18.2-0ubuntu1 gvfs (0.2.3-0ubuntu5) to 0.2.4-0ubuntu1 gvfs-backends (0.2.3-0ubuntu5) to 0.2.4-0ubuntu1 gvfs-fuse (0.2.3-0ubuntu5) to 0.2.4-0ubuntu1 libgtkhtml3.14-19 (3.18.1-0ubuntu1) to 3.18.2-0ubuntu1 libgvfscommon0 (0.2.3-0ubuntu5) to 0.2.4-0ubuntu1 linux-restricted-modules-common (2.6.24.12-17.36) to 2.6.24.13-18.41 seahorse (2.22.1-0ubuntu2) to 2.22.2-0ubuntu1 xorg-driver-fglrx (1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.12-17.36) to 1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.13-18.41 xorg-driver-fglrx-dev (1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.12-17.36) to 1:7.1.0-8-3+2.6.24.13-18.41 -- [fglrx] Ati x1600Pro White screen on activating compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59417] Scroll lock does not work in X
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xkb-data The scroll lock key does not do anything in X. This applies to ubuntu 6.06. I have tested this with two very different systems. The scroll lock LED does not turn itself on, and it's impossible to get to the "SCROLL" functionality of OpenOffice.org Calc. The scroll lock key works as expected in the text VTs, but not in VT7 (or other X VTs). Turning on the led through xset led 3 works as expected. This is an issue to quite a few people because illuminated keyboards often simply hardwire the light on the scroll lock-led. Therefore, illumination does not work in Ubuntu without knowing the cryptic xset commands. I figure this is due to some misconfiguration of xkb, but this is an area I know very little of. ** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Scroll lock does not work in X https://launchpad.net/bugs/59417 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1574001] Re: package systemd-sysv 229-4ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: pre-dependency problem - not installing systemd-sysv
Experienced the same problem when upgrading from 15.10. Had to do apt- get install -f systemd to force the upgrade from 225-1ubuntu9.1 to 229-4ubuntu4 (of systemd and systemd-sysv). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574001 Title: package systemd-sysv 229-4ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: pre- dependency problem - not installing systemd-sysv To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1574001/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 705067] Re: cups hangs on package upgrade
On my system, it hung on the post-start hook's first line, where the hook waits for the appearance of /var/run/cups/cups.sock. This was caused by me commenting out the Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock line in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. I thought I had to to enable remote connections (adding a Listen *:631 instead), but I have now realised both can be present without issues. Uncommenting the Listen directive removed the problem. The /etc/init/cups script needs a less stupid check for the presence of a server, or at least some way of terminating the eternal loop looking for the server sock. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/705067 Title: cups hangs on package upgrade -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 59417] Re: Scroll lock does not work in X
Go ahead and close it, Bryce. I can't verify the bug anymore, as the backlit keyboard this bug originally messed up is long gone. However: Your comments mention other reasons to close the bug. Still, the original bug (not the comments' bugs) remains, as far as I am able to tell. I would still go for closing this one and instead wait for a new report from a new user with a similar keyboard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59417 Title: Scroll lock does not work in X -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 372164] Re: non ASCII chars in hashtags dont work
You should probably copy Twitter's own twitter-text library. Their regex is a bit more complicated, and in Ruby, an I am not proficient enough in Python to push a real patch: LATIN_ACCENTS = [(0xc0..0xd6).to_a, (0xd8..0xf6).to_a, (0xf8..0xff).to_a].flatten.pack('U*').freeze HASHTAG_CHARACTERS = /[a-z0-9_#{LATIN_ACCENTS}]/io However, HASHTAG_CHARACTERS are only allowed from position 2 and on: REGEXEN[:auto_link_hashtags] = /(^|[^0-9A-Z&\/]+)(#|#)([0-9A-Z_]*[A-Z_]+#{HASHTAG_CHARACTERS}*)/io -- non ASCII chars in hashtags dont work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
