[Bug 400285] [NEW] Biobar doesn't appear correctly in firefox-3.5 under the qtcurve theme instead of gtk

2009-07-16 Thread Salva
Public bug reported:

It seems that the width of the biobar is somehow reduced, so text doesn't
appear correctly, not in buttons neither in the search box.
This problem is not crucial but using this toolbar from firefox is a bit
uncomfortable. I don't know if the problem is also present with other kind of
toolbars, or whether it's the only case.
By the way, I'm running a Kubuntu Jaunty with KDE 4.3 RC2 in a Lenovo Thinkpad

[Bug 400515] [NEW] kdm starts well but it crashes when trying to restart

2009-07-16 Thread Salva
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdm

I'm running a kubuntu jaunty amd64 in a thinkpad t61p with nvidia
drivers. When I boot the laptop everything goes ok but when I try to
restart the X, it crashes. I tried with /etc/init.d/kdm restart, in the
kdm menu and by ctrl+alt+backspace, and the result is that X crashes and
I have eventually to reboot the system.

[Bug 400515] Re: kdm starts well but it crashes when trying to restart

2009-08-22 Thread Salva
Actually, I had to downgrade to nvidia 180 because nvidia 185.18.31 had a bug
in my laptop and X didn't start at all. However, nvidia had another bug for
this driver and X crashed for some applications like smplayer, kaffeine,
kdevelop... whenever, for instance I opened the open file window, among others.
Such two bugs have been already fixed with the new nvidia 185.18.36, but the
original situation descripted here came back again. So now everything is
working properly but when I try to restart X. When I do that X doesn't restart
and I have to reboot the system.
Do you know any way to avoid this? Is anyone suffering the same or is it just
me?
Thanks!

To give you some more information, I figured out that I can start a new session

start (restart)
By the way, maybe it's related or not, I don't know but I think I should tell
you that at work I have an external monitor, so my xorg.conf is configured as
twinview.
I attached my xorg.conf and the log files you requested...

Hi!

I have an Asus A6J with exactly the same problem with a DVD device

Then I changed DVD device as primary boot and put the HD, after that my

Today I leave my laptop turned on during 3 or 4 hours, then my system
was hang again, that make my thing may be the problem is associated with
the suspension or hibernating.

Can i disable this function in kernel ¿?

Simply was an idea.

[Bug 433547] [NEW] open and save windows are slow and extension issues

2009-09-20 Thread Salva
Public bug reported:

Openoffice 3.1.1 is really slow to open/save files within the kde theme.
I mean when I try to move between folders or when I try to select a
particular file, the process is extremely long, and I would say it is
something related to the kde theme. Another related issue is about the
extensions, it seems that is not adding the extension by default when
you select a specific format.

Except for these small issues, people involved in openoffice.org-kde did
a fantastic work, I really like how openoffice is now integrated into
kde.

[Bug 514245] [NEW] bad double buffering or vertical sync

2010-01-29 Thread salva
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Reproducing video with totem or mplayer does not go smoothly,
consecutive frames are mixed. It looks as if that double buffering was
not being use or the buffer swapping was not synchronized with video
vertical sync.

It happens both in full screen and in window mode.

I didn't have this problem with Ubuntu 9.10.

[Bug 514245] Re: bad double buffering or vertical sync

2010-01-29 Thread salva
Playing video with mplayer or totem does not run smoothly. Consecutive
frames appear mixed. It looks as if double buffering was not being used
or the redraw/buffer swapping was not synchronized with the monitor
vertical sync.

If happens with any video I have tried both at full screen and in window
mode.

Video reproduction used to work fine with Ubuntu 9.10 on the same
computer.

removing acpi-support did not cause any appreciable difference, I am
still getting the same erratic behaviour.

Do you know if there is any utility similar to /lib/udev/keymap but able
to generate more detailed info I could use to monitor everything the
kernel sends to input/event4?

Cheers

[Bug 444637] Re: systemsettings crashed when choosed language region

I don't see any kde4libs for jaunty. Is it going to be fixed also for
jaunty or will we have to wait for karmic?

thanks

[Bug 444637] Re: systemsettings crashed when choosed language region

2009-10-07 Thread Salva
I have realized that kde4libs is related to: kdelibs-bin, kdelibs5. But
they depend on kdelibs5-data which won't be installed (>=
4:4.3.2-0ubuntu1~ppa1~jaunty3). The same happens to me with plasma-
widget-networkmanagement, which depends on network-manager (>= 0.8~).

I guess I have to wait a little bit...

Thanks

[Bug 351222] Re: KDM cannot be started with the nvidia driver

2009-11-05 Thread Salva
I have realized that what I said before is not completely true: "It's
something weird because when I reconfigure the kernel and then reboot it
works but only for the first time, then the problem comes back again,
what I don't understand why".

Actually, either I don't understand what is going on or this is a random
error that only happens around half of the times, but reconfiguring the
kernel doesn't seem to help.

[Bug 351222] Re: KDM cannot be started with the nvidia driver

2009-11-05 Thread Salva
Thanks Bruce for your feedback! I will open a new bug Tomorrow. Today I spent
some time testing what could be the source of the problem, so I decided to
install gdm to check if this issue also appears, or not, using gdm.
After testing that, what I can say is that it seems that there is something
wrong in kdm while interacting with X and nvidia drivers (maybe only in 64
bits?) because this is not happening at all in gdm (gdm works like a charm in
my kubuntu karmic 64 bits with nvidia 185 driver).
As a kde user, and fan ;), I would rather prefer to use kdm than gdm, which
requires to install a lot of gnome packages that otherwise I wouldn't need, but
I am afraid that I will have to use gdm for a while until this bug is fixed. As
I said before I will open a bug to see if this problem can be fixed as soon as
possible, but using gdm can be a good temporal workaround.

[Bug 400285] Re: Biobar doesn't appear correctly in firefox-3.5 under the qtcurve theme instead of gtk

2009-08-24 Thread Salva
Just in case someone is in the same situation, as a temporal workaround
I installed the kfirefox add-on (v 0.16) and now Biobar is fine,
although the whole firefox appearance has changed a little bit, making
it more similar to the original firefox theme, more than to the
(k)ubuntu theme, which I like more.

[Bug 453270] [NEW] configuration wizard is too big for 1024x600 screen

2009-10-16 Thread salva
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: balsa

The configuration wizard that gets launched before the program is too
big for netbook screens making the program unusable in those devices.

The bug has already been reported upstream, and solved for the next
version.

The patch has also been backported to the current release and as it is
minimal and harmless, could it be applied to the Ubuntu package?

[Bug 420411] [NEW] vpn connection handshake times out too soon

2009-08-28 Thread salva
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

NetworkManager only waits 40 seconds for the VPN to come up. This is too
short when using a slow connection as for instance a 64kbps GPRS
connection.

Calling openvpn manually also timeouts sometimes with the default
timeout (60s?), but I am able to override it using the "connect-timeout"
option in the configuration file and solve the problem.

[Bug 420473] [NEW] too many key events for volume keys

2009-08-28 Thread salva
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

Hi,

Volume control keys do not work reliably on my netbook (Coolbox QBook
270-02).

Those keys are pressed as a combination of Fn + right and Fn + left.

When I press any of them, sometimes they are ignored, sometimes they generate
and endless number of keypress/keyrelease event pairs while the rest of the
keys stop to work.

Attached is the output xev gets (after killing the gnome-settings-
daemon) while I do some single keypresses

Below is the output from /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event4.

[Bug 351222] Re: KDM cannot be started with the nvidia driver

2009-11-02 Thread Salva
I'm not sure it is exactly the same but at least it seems so. In my case
is in Kubuntu Karmic with nvidia-graphics-drivers-185 (185.18.36), and I
cannot achieve to get kdm, but startx works.

It's something weird because when I reconfigure the kernel and then
reboot it works but only for the first time, then the problem comes back
again, what I don't understand why.

It is the second time something similar happens this week on this box.

But I haven't found any pattern. Actually, this time, I had left my
Ubuntu box unattended and doing nothing for a couple of hours and when I
come back, Firefox was frozen and I found that error on the syslog.

[Bug 396058] Re: [needs-packaging] libnet-ssh-perl-perl

2015-02-15 Thread salva
Net::SSH::Perl was removed from Debian a long time ago because of its
dependency with libpari that has a non-free license. Anyway,
Net::SSH::Perl is an old and unmaintaned module with lots of bugs.

You may like to use Net::OpenSSH instead which is already available in
Debian/Ubuntu, and maybe with the Net::OpenSSH::Compat adapter (also
available) which is compatible with Net::SSH::Perl at the API level.

[Bug 1425121] [NEW] plink fails to signal connection errors

Happens in both the version packed in Ubuntu (Dec 13 2014 17:09:53) and
