To give you some more information, I figured out that I can start a new session with 'starx' from the console but not to start/restart it with /etc/init.d/kdm start (restart) By the way, maybe it's related or not, I don't know but I think I should tell you that at work I have an external monitor, so my xorg.conf is configured as twinview.
