[Bug 574406] [NEW] Audio capture doesn't record anything.

2010-05-03 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

I discovered this bug on my Gateway LT2110U netbook which i recently
bought new. Before installing Xbuntu 10.04 the audio capture worked just
fine in Windows 7, however after installing Ubuntu I noticed it doesn't
work in Skype, recordmydesktop, and voice recorder and among other
applications as well. I tried changing every audio setting I could find
and even tried other distros, but to no avail. I tried Gnome in case it
was the DE, but that didn't help neither.

Re: [Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2010-01-08 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
The easiest fix I found is to just remove power manager. sudo apt-get
remove-xfce4-power-manager is what I did. Worked fine. You won't have a
power manager, but do you really need it? I keep mine plugged in almost all
the time, so its not an issue for me.

Re: [Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2009-12-11 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
If you don't need a power manager, simply removing gnome-power-manager is
one way to fix it. Another way for those that need a power manager is remove
gnome-power-manager and replace it with KDE's guidance-power-manager,
although suspend won't work from my experience.

[Bug 489268] [NEW] I have an MSI Wind U100. USB devices not mounted. I have a USB flash drive and disc drive plugged in and neither are recognized so they can't be used.

Public bug reported:

I can restart many many times and eventually are detected and keep them
that way by just using suspend instead of shutdown, but this isn't a
good workaround.

2009-11-30 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
I desperately tried something and it worked for me. Shut down, unplug power
from laptop, remove battery, hold down power button for about 10 seconds (to
drain all power), plug power back in, and turn on computer. Worked for me,
hope this helps. Oh, and for the screen brightness flickering bug, i just
removed power manager.

didn't leave a space between the end of the last word and the start of
i915.powersave=0 and I tried it with a space between the last word and
the code I put in and it booted up fine. Now I'm waiting a few minutes
to see if it still blinks and will report the results ASAP thanks :)

Yeah that is true, but at least deleting powr management works. In another
release or 2 i may even consider switching to Debian or Linpus or an Ubuntu
based distro for netbooks perhaps.

Re: [Bug 460062] Re: brightness autonomously toggles after increasing brightness

2009-11-04 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 415023 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415023

I figured out a solution that works indefinitely, at least till an
update comes along anyway. Go to applications>settings>Xfce 4 Settings
Manager>Power Management and all settings for monitor and brightness to
never. So far this has worked, as long as I don't try to adjust the
brightness because that would trigger our little problem again which I don't
wanna do. So until there is a fix this works fine, actually I'll keep my
settings this way just in case. Hope this helps.

[Bug 1277035] [NEW] Why is the Amazon shopping lens opt-out instead of opt-in?

2014-02-06 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

I along with many users think the shopping lens should be an opt-in
feature, not an opt-out. And if it remains as an opt-out feature then I
think there should be a disclaimer during installation telling the user
what it does and how it does what it does. I don't necessarily distrust
Canonical with my IP logs but there's a lot of users that do and feel
betrayed to the point of labeling the shopping lens as "spyware". Pleas
fix this issue by making it an opt-in feature instead of an opt-out.

[Bug 719818] [NEW] compiz doesn't play well with gtk-recordMyDesktop

2011-02-15 Thread robertzacc...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Whenever I do a screen recording with gtk-recordMyDesktop and compiz
running at the same time, which it does by default, the recording is
always very buggy and still-framed for the most part and crazy mixes of
coloring. Some applications (that are in the repos) require compiz to
run properly e.x. docky. Since compiz and gtk-recordMyDesktop are both
in the repos, I do believe this qualifies as a bug.

The videos appear to record fine, but after I end a recording and the
