I desperately tried something and it worked for me. Shut down, unplug power from laptop, remove battery, hold down power button for about 10 seconds (to drain all power), plug power back in, and turn on computer. Worked for me, hope this helps. Oh, and for the screen brightness flickering bug, i just removed power manager.
