[Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage
I can confirm that Sublime Text 3 is a good candidate to notice this problem. Just accessing the global menu can dramatically increases CPU usage of unity-panel-service. [Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage
I have installed the packages from saucy-proposed (and indicator-appmenu manually). I'm fairly sure the main problem is fixed. I have pinned a terminal running top to the top, and made some test with Sublime Text 3. Opening Sublime makes unity-panel-service use a full core for a good few seconds. Accessing the menu does moderately increase CPU usage for unity-panel-service while it is accessed. Closing the menu makes unity- panel-service use a full core for 1-2 seconds. Same when Sublime is closed. Switching focus back and forth between gnome-terminal and Sublime makes unity-panel-service use a full core for 1-2 seconds. I haven't noticed any prolonged periods of CPU usage, as was the case before. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199877 Title: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-appmenu/+bug/1199877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 959306] Re: precise: suspend doesn't work on lenovo thinkpad x121e (regression)
I've installed 3.3 but it didn't boot. [ 35.803405] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 35ee1000 [ 35.803416] IP: [] firegl_stub_open+0x94/0x1c0 [fglrx] [ 35.803492] *pdpt = 36ec5001 *pde = [ 35.803499] Oops: 0002 [#1] SMP I've uninstalled fglrx and then it worked. And suspend/resume did as well, which made me curious to try 3.2 without fglrx. Same result, suspend/resume works. So the problem is most likely with fglrx then. I had fglrx installed on 11.04 though, and suspend/resume worked as well. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959306 Title: precise: suspend doesn't work on lenovo thinkpad x121e (regression) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/959306/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 959306] Re: precise: suspend doesn't work on lenovo thinkpad x121e (regression)
** Description changed: I've tried the latest beta (plus updated packages) and noticed that suspend doesn't work. It still worked in 11.04, haven't tried 11.10 though. What happens is that the screen goes blank (but not off) when entering suspend mode, and that's it. It doesn't even enter suspend mode. I have to power the device off at this point. - I'm not sure which logs to attach, so please let me know if further information is needed. - --- - AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. - ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu2 - Architecture: i386 - ArecordDevices: - List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices - card 1: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog] -Subdevices: 1/1 -Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - AudioDevicesInUse: - USERPID ACCESS COMMAND - /dev/snd/controlC1: user 1445 F pulseaudio - /dev/snd/controlC0: user 1445 F pulseaudio - Card0.Amixer.info: - Card hw:0 'Generic'/'HD-Audio Generic at 0xf0344000 irq 42' -Mixer name : 'ATI R6xx HDMI' -Components : 'HDA:1002aa01,00aa0100,00100200' -Controls : 6 -Simple ctrls : 1 - Card0.Amixer.values: - Simple mixer control 'IEC958',0 -Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined penum -Playback channels: Mono -Mono: Playback [on] - Card1.Amixer.info: - Card hw:1 'SB'/'HDA ATI SB at 0xf034 irq 16' -Mixer name : 'Conexant CX20590' -Components : 'HDA:14f1506e,17aa21ec,0012' -Controls : 8 -Simple ctrls : 5 - Card29.Amixer.info: - Card hw:29 'ThinkPadEC'/'ThinkPad Console Audio Control at EC reg 0x30, fw unknown' -Mixer name : 'ThinkPad EC (unknown)' -Components : '' -Controls : 1 -Simple ctrls : 1 - Card29.Amixer.values: - Simple mixer control 'Console',0 -Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined penum -Playback channels: Mono -Mono: Playback [on] - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 - HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=dcc4e963-3c3f-4061-be45-c54b2ee2be32 - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha i386 (20120317) - Lsusb: - Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub - Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub - Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub - Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub - MachineType: LENOVO 30515QG - NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx - Package: pm-utils - ProcFB: 0 VESA VGA - ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-20-generic-pae root=UUID=e687d964-8dd7-4b6a-85a1-410488d6c024 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-20.32-generic-pae 3.2.12 - RelatedPackageVersions: - linux-restricted-modules-3.2.0-20-generic-pae N/A - linux-backports-modules-3.2.0-20-generic-pae N/A - linux-firmware1.72 - RfKill: - 0: phy0: Wireless LAN - Soft blocked: no - Hard blocked: no - StagingDrivers: rts_pstor - Tags: precise staging - Uname: Linux 3.2.0-20-generic-pae i686 - UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-03-17 (4 days ago) - UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo - dmi.bios.date: 06/20/2011 - dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.bios.version: 8RET26WW (1.08 ) - dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available - dmi.board.name: 30515QG - dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.board.version: Not Available - dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information - dmi.chassis.type: 10 - dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.chassis.version: Not Available - dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr8RET26WW(1.08):bd06/20/2011:svnLENOVO:pn30515QG:pvrThinkPadX120e:rvnLENOVO:rn30515QG:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: - dmi.product.name: 30515QG - dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X120e - dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO + I'm not sure which logs to attach, so please let me know if further + information is needed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959306 Title: precise: suspend doesn't work on lenovo thinkpad x121e (regression) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/959306/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1232454] Re: "Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity." dialog when resuming from suspend
IMO there are three separate bugs here. The first bug is the dialog itself. Why is there such a dialog? It's not necessary. The second bug is that the dialog sometimes prevents suspend from working. And the third bug is the dialog not closing itself when the system resumes. This is merely cosmetic but makes Ubuntu look amateurish. In case anyone with the same problem wants to make this permanent. sudo tee /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr-settings << EOF xrandr --fb 1201x1920 EOF -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1070883 Title: Pivot causes missing single line on screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1070883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1068661] Re: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-installer Radeon HD 6700M Series
I'm having the same problem when installing 12.10 from the AMD website. It works fine with the fglrx and fglrx-updates package from Ubuntu repository, and with 12.9 BETA from AMD website. The update-alternatives warning highlighted in this bug report is probably a red herring - the actual problem is most likely as mentioned in the other report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer- updates/+bug/1069199/comments/3 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068661 Title: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-installer Radeon HD 6700M Series To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1068661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1068661] Re: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-installer Radeon HD 6700M Series
Correction: It might not work with 12.9 BETA from AMD website, I haven't tried. It's the same driver version as 2:9.000-0ubuntu3 but files need not necessarily be identical. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068661 Title: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-installer Radeon HD 6700M Series To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1068661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1070883] [NEW] Pivot causes missing single line on screen
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 12.10 Release:12.10 fglrx-amdcccle-updates 2:9.000-0ubuntu3 fglrx-updates 2:9.000-0ubuntu3 When using pivot (rotated screen), a single line exactly in the middle of the screen is missing, which is especially noticeable with text. It's as if the driver tries to render the contents of the screen on a canvas which is 1px less wide than the screen, causing it to remove a single line. When you take a window, like the browser, and move it horizontally on the screen, this effect can be noticed very easily. The resolution is correct though, the screen is reported as "DFP1 connected 900x1600+0+0 left" by xrandr. It only occurs with fglrx, not with the open-source radeon driver. The cursor is not affected by this problem. I know that Ubuntu maintainers have no means to fix this (unless it's a misconfiguration), but maybe the maintainer can report this problem to AMD. Please note that "ubuntu-bug fglrx-installer" doesn't work so I've just attached the relevant log file. ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: fglrx pivot ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1070883/+attachment/3411827/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1070883 Title: Pivot causes missing single line on screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1070883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1162176] Re: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr-settings is ignored in 13.04
Hmm it does run indeed. I have deleted ~/.config/monitors.xml and it works, with seemingly no side-effects. Thanks. I had to re-configure the monitor in the catalyst driver settings though. It has also re-created a new monitors.xml file with seemingly the only difference being the monitor set as no. I need this as a workaround for another bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx- installer/+bug/1070883/comments/5 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1162176 Title: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr-settings is ignored in 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrandr/+bug/1162176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1162179] [NEW] hidden unity launcher peeks briefly on boot with default settings in 13.04
