[Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message

2008-12-04 Thread ode
I have the same problem.
I'm using a Kodak DX6490.

I get the error message "An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock
the device'): Camera is already in use."
and the dmesg:
[ 4607.780064] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
[ 4607.985085] usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1400.4[b781e000+395000]

I could use the card reader but I had some pictures on the internal memory.
I was able to get the photos off the camera by partly following the workaround
at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/287689:
In Removable Drives and Media Preferences (System > Preferences > Removable
Drives and Media > Cameras > Digital Camera), uncheck the Import digital
photographs when connected.
I then unmounted the camera in Nautilus when I connect it.
However using "gphoto --import-photos" on the command line still didn't work.
However adding a sudo in front of the command enabled me to import the photos.

Now trying the command again it is not working now.
I get the error "An error occurred in the io-library ('Unspecified error'): No
error description available"
and dmesg:
[ 7809.352154] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 15

[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-11-07 Thread ode
Hi Alberto,

I did mention I was using 2.6.27 at the bottom of my post.
I didn't have 2.6.25 installed.

I installed the packages you stated above and it build the module for
the correct kernel this time.

I looked in jockey and it still said there were no proprietary drivers.
I used Ctrl-Alt-F1 and ran nvidia-xconfig from there and restarted X
manually and now the drivers work.

I rebooted and Jockey still says no proprietary drivers are in use
though.

I also got the corrupted wine fonts problem already mentioned. I used the fix
mentioned above by Peter Remmers and it worked for me (on Gnome.)

Thanks

[Bug 236951] [NEW] lame encoder gives error repeatedly, resulting mp3 unplayable

2008-06-02 Thread ode
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lame

I am using lame 3.97 on Hardy.
I was converting some OGG/VORBIS versions of some recent episodes of lugradio
(e.g.
http://uk.lugradio.atchoo.org/season5/ep19/lugradio-s05e19-020608-high.ogg)
using the ogg2mp3 python script (http://emptybits.com/ogg2mp3/).
It completes but the resulting mp3 file is mostly unplayable.
ogg2mp3 hides the lame output so I converted the VORBIS manually to a WAV and
then ran lame on it and got the error "<> ResvSizeInternal buffer
inconsistency. flushbits <>" endlessly.

I compiled the latest version (3.98b8) and the bug no longer occurs.

[Bug 237850] [NEW] Baobab moves trash to wrong location

[Bug 282734] Re: bogofilter error messages in evolution

2009-01-25 Thread ode
I moved one of my accounts across to evolution from Thunderbird today. I
clicked send and recieve and got loads of Evolution error mesages. They say:
Check Junk Failed

Pipe to Bogofilter failed, error code: 3.'

The trick of marking one message as junk worked for me.

I'm using 8.10.

I commented out the below two lines in /usr/lib/python2.5/site-

shell.

if sys.modules.has_key('gst'):
raise RequiredVersionError, "pygst.require() must be called before
