[Bug 547147] Re: [drm:edid_is_valid] *ERROR* Raw EDID

2010-10-04 Thread mediterran81
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 575985 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575985

Same problem here!
That is the most hilarious bug ever in my life!
Such a frustrating thing for the sake of Linux!

I am running Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10, fedora 13 and Windows XP pro SP3 on a
Dell Inspiron 9400 linked to a Dell ST2310 External Monitor (through VGA
and DVI-D).

The DVI-D works fine in Windows XP.

I get the same error message upon booting : Raw edid - Edid checksum is
invalid, remainder is 130.

I have an Intel 945GM graphics card!

PS: I ll have to install Ubuntu 9.x and check if it is a matter of Intel
drivers or the kernel itself!

Still using RARING in a Virtual Machine. I'll be upgrading to raring next
week.
Will uninstall Bumblebee, re-install nouveau and feedback with results.
Thanks for your valuable information.

@Steven Keys Actually, they are not really related! Intel is working on
this regression which is supposed to be resolved in Kernel 3.2. I do not
remember the link where i read this.

[Bug 844307] Re: No HDMI support.

2012-01-11 Thread mediterran81
reported from Luis de Costa:

"There is a way to get the HDMI working perfectly, and use the Nvidia at
is highest speed with the nvidia drivers without the use of bumblebee...

The problem is that it is a very simple method, that requires to not use
the laptopt monitor when using the HDMI.

You just need to create the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and introduce this :

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Device1"
   Driver "nouveau"
   BusID "PCI:05:00:0"
EndSection

This one uses the nouveau drivers, you need to "sudo modprobe nouveau"
before using this...

For the nvidia drivers :

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Device1"
   Driver "nvidia"
   VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
   BusID "PCI:05:00:0"
   Option "NoLogo" "true"
   Option "UseEDID" "false"
   Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"
EndSection

I hope this helps somewone... With this tecnique I was able to play a
flash video in 1080p in full screen on my TV using the HDMI !

Now I think that a little tweak with bumblebee, and we can have the
booth working at the same time ^^ "

[Bug 897427] Re: [Advent 4211, Realtek ALC1200, Green Headphone Out, Rear] Playback problem

2012-01-30 Thread mediterran81
I have the same issue on a DELL XPS 15 L502X.

When I plug external speakers or headphones, there's no sound.
Modifying the Alsa config results in problems so the present workaround for me
is this one:

- Just right after I plug the external speakers, I hit (Mute then
Unmute) : This enables sound back.

Actually Alsa config should be modified in a manner that right after the
external speakers jack is plugged a mute+unmute function is executed.

[Bug 818830] Re: [Sandy Bridge] serious power regression from kernel 3.0.0-6 to 3.0.0-7 (rc6 disabled)

2012-01-23 Thread mediterran81
How come? The link says it is fixed in 3.3 (merging of Garrett Patch), while
Ubuntu 12.04 will come with the patch included.

[Bug 874241] Re: Wrong resolutions in lightdm login screen when using external monitor connected to laptop

2012-03-07 Thread mediterran81
Still affecting Precise.

Running Precise Beta updated (Unity as default Desktop) on a Dell XPS 15
L502X attached to an external Monitor (1920X1080) through the miniDP
(DVI) port.

Same symptoms:

- At the greeter stage:
--> the laptop screen has correct resolution but is truncated from left and
right sides (exactly like screenshot).
- -> the external monitor screen displays a mirror of the laptop screen
(gretter) with low resolution but is not truncated.

- At the login stage (user session):
--> Everything works fine for both monitors and extended desktop.

I have also installed other DM on the system (XCFE, Gnome classic and KDE).
Yet, the primary manager is Unity (Lightdm).
When booting, the two screens display at correct resolution the KUBUNTU logo
(mirror), and once at the greeter stage, the configuration seems to be modified.

If you need me to undergo other tests please feel free to ask.

fine with Bumblebee.

[Bug 657509] Re: DRM: Invalid EDID Checksum - External Monitor DVI -D not recognized by Kernel / Intel Graphisc Driver

2010-10-17 Thread mediterran81
** Description changed:

Upon boot. I get an error that prevents the kernel from recognizing the
external monitor through DVI-D connection:
DRM: Invalid EDID checksum, remainder is 130.

  Only VGA mode works fine.

The monitor is : DELL ST2310 and it is fully recognized in Windows (Xp,
Vista and 7) through DVI-D, HDMI and VGA.

I tested with OpenSUSE, Fedora 13, Knoppix, Mandriva. Same problem!
  Invalid EDID.

I guess it is a bug in the Linux Kernel (DRM) and has something to do
  with Intel Graphics driver.

I have an INTEL GMX945 Graphics integrated card with VGA and DVI-D
  ports.

  Using : Ubuntu 10.10.

If you need me to apply several tests! Please feel free to ask!

[Bug 657509] [NEW] DRM: Invalid EDID Checksum - External Monitor DVI -D not recognized by Kernel / Intel Graphisc Driver

2010-10-09 Thread mediterran81
Public bug reported:

[Bug 657509] Re: DRM: Invalid EDID Checksum - External Monitor DVI -D not recognized by Kernel / Intel Graphisc Driver

2010-10-10 Thread mediterran81
