[Bug 526682] [NEW] package wasn't installed during initial installation

2010-02-23 Thread jr3us
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: b43-fwcutter

After rebooting from installation, the b43 module was installed, however
the hardware drivers did not prompt to use the proprietary driver for
this. I had to manually install the b43-fwcutter to get the fw file
installed for this device, and then restart the network interface wlan0
to activate the b43 module with the fw file created by b43-fwcutter
utility.

I tried running the hardware drivers utility, and it did not offer any
restricted drivers.

It is a compaq presario laptop v200 with the bcm4318 chipset.

Once I corrected the issues above manually, the Wireless network
interface worked fine.

The current jockey.log is empty so I grabbed the .1 version of it.

[Bug 1062917] [NEW] Upstream kernel patches for au0828 driver

2012-10-06 Thread jr3us
Public bug reported:

As indicated by the summary, there are patches that fix a problem with
the Hauppauge HVR-950Q USB tuner for Mythbuntu 12.04.

The problem that occurs is that when the analog side of the tuner is
touched, currently, the 3.2.0 kernel for 12.04 Mythbuntu kills
mythbackend, and dumps a bunch of trace data into the syslog.

I am including some comments and a link to the commit from Devin
Heitmueller below:

Sounds like a plan!

FYI: the problem in the au0828 driver has been identified and a fix
is pending to go upstream.

I did not add logs for this as they originally happened quite some time
ago. I did provide the logs to Devin.

[Bug 1062917] Re: Upstream kernel patches for au0828 driver

2012-10-09 Thread jr3us
Brad,

I perused the source file
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=blob;f=drivers/media/usb/au0828/au0828-video.c;h=87058557057133f9d209e842c60f000e02f93fba;hb=0e51793e162ca432fc5f04178cf82b80a92c2659

in the stable 3.6.1 kernel, and it shows the patches applied. Around
line 1700 +- of the above source, you will find the patch from Devin
applied.

Looks like it has made it to the current 3.6.1 stable kernel.

Thanks!
