[Bug 232087] [NEW] Resolution wrong on laptop when unpluging external monitor
Public bug reported: I am using a no name laptop with a 15" LCD screen. Also a external 22" LCD monitor. Everything work fine. Both displays are right But when I unplug the laptop to use without external monitor the resolution on the laptop is wrong. the only way to correct it is to change resolution to a lower setting and they re-set it back again. This will fix the problem. I believe the bug is that the detection of the disconnection external monitor is not seen. It thinks that I still have the external monitor connected. I am not sure if this was the case in 7.10 but it is the case in 8.04. I am using GNOME desktop ver 2.22.1 and Metacity. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Resolution wrong on laptop when unpluging external monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 335662] Re: [jaunty] hplip status service cannot find system tray
This error occurs every time I startup. The problem started after upgrading to 9.04 of Ubuntu. I just close the error dialog and everything seem to work OK. I just don't have the icon in the system tray. If I un-install hplip the error goes away. When I reinstall it it comes back so it is in this package. ** Attachment added: "error message" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27703168/Screenshot-HPLIP%20Status%20Service.png -- [jaunty] hplip status service cannot find system tray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335662 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 29399] Re: change of screen resolution does not work
I had Dapper installed on my desktop and it worked great but I had some problems with my Hard drive so I wiped and did a clean install of Edgy. My computer came up in 1600 x 1200 resolution at 86Hz. I wanted to drop down in resolution, but it hangs for about 15 seconds then give me the login screen. I can login and everything work fine, but there is no way to change resolution. I have a Dell Trinitron Monitor and a SiS vidio on-board that worked great in Dapper. From looking at all the bugs out here, there is something different from Dapper that is causing this. I thought I would just add this to this bug report. -- change of screen resolution does not work https://launchpad.net/bugs/29399 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1027724] Re: [nvidia] Xorg freeze
Rich, does this mean you can't use Unity for a desktop? I have had a similar problem, but I get a lockup using Firefox or Chrome browser, but I am not sure it is even that. I can make it lockup by just moving the scroll bar in any windows. Then again I try to lock it up and it won't lock. Sometimes it will lock a couple of times a day, then it goes for days without locking up. I have read the syslog and it really does not tell me anything. It is always different. It seems to be a kernel thing. even when it lock (and I can't get anything to respond to keyboard or mouse clicks, it will go to a prompt when I hit the Ctrl/Alt F2, from there I can run sudo shutdown now, and it will shut down. This gets me away from just hitting the power button and corrupting some files. It seems in the graphic mode I can't do anything but at the prompt I can. I installed a new SSD 180gig, reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 and it still lockup. But it ran about three days before it did. I am using a Dell Inspiron 1521 with the AMD 64bit. Running Ubuntu 64bit version. Public bug reported: The only way I could get this bug report filed was to run in 2D. The 3D screen is corrupt. Also could not run in Live OS off DVD or USB. Could not install from either DVD or USB. Had to do an install of 12.04 then do an upgrade to 12.10. For more information please see this thread on the forum @ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2039669&page=1. Please read all the post I made under user name irv. I will not add any screen shot yet but will try to include them in the comments. You can see them on the forum also. There was another bug report filed but it was from 12.04 and the problem was in 12.10. You can either delete that bug report or mark it as a duplacate of this one. [Bug 863324] [NEW] system settings -> screen -> shuntdown after ... cant be set at "never"
