[Bug 147560] Re: Kernel detects battery management wrong (MSI PR200 / System76)

2008-08-17 Thread impact
Hopefully solved, according to
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9823 the patch is in 2.6.27
upstream now. Can't wait to test it.

Does "is thus only suitable for inclusion in the Multiverse repository"
mean that it will be included? That would be great. (the author has
already allowed pclos people to distribute it..

Booting with the kernel parameter EC_INTR=0 should fix it.

[Bug 178125] Re: No battery detected in Alpha2

2008-02-10 Thread impact
The last update to 2.6.24-7-generic made the battery info a lot more
stable, however it is still not perfect - usually during charging when
the battery is nearly full and the charging is about to stop, battery
info starts going crazy, also the well-know ac adapter plugged/unplugged
loop happens every now and then.

There's another related kernel bug reported and being investigated here:

Attached log of "gnome-power-manager --verbose --no-daemon" when the bug
occurs (the AC adapter was unplugged all the time, yet the messages show
repeated AC off( Setting on-ac: 0) and on ( Setting on-ac: 1)).

I also found another error in dmesg, it only shows sporadically, but it
probably has something to do with the battery, too.

[Bug 147560] Re: Kernel detects battery management wrong (MSI PR200 / System76)

2007-11-22 Thread impact
I have added an attachment that shows the g-p-m setting I use. On the
left is the AC- adapter window, on the right is the battery window. With
these settings and LCD brightness set to 100 percent (use the gnome
brightness applet with the slider moved all the way up/your Fn keys),
g-p-m will not try to change the screen brightness and won't steal mouse
focus from full screen games.

[Bug 178125] Re: No battery detected in Alpha2

2007-12-27 Thread impact
I have the same problem with Hardy Heron Alpha 2 and MSI GX700. The good
thing is that the following bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.22/+bug/147560 appears to be fixed in alpha 2 (I haven't been
able to reproduce it). The bad thing is the battery isn't detected
properly.

I have attached a dmesg.txt - it contains these suspicious lines:

[Bug 137470] Re: spurious completions during NCQ Hitachi HTS722016K9A300/HTS722012K9A300/HTS541616J9SA00/HTS542525K9SA00

2007-12-27 Thread impact
I tried Hardy Heron Alpha 2 and it works fine in this regard - no more
spurious NCQ completions. I'm guessing that the patch which fixes
detection of spurious NCQ completion errors (referenced by SEAQ - Andres
Mujica) is included.

Here's the dsdt dump. Decompilation will give you one error (compiler
related - not an actual fault in the dsdt table, just reserved variable
name) and some warnings related to unhandled timeouts.

[Bug 164454] Re: Browsing nokia e65 buggy

2007-12-31 Thread impact
Same problem, but with a Nokia E50. First, it displays both the phone
memory (C:) and the phone memory card (E:) fine. Suddenly during
browsing, Nautilus complains that it can't display a folder and the
folder icon changes into a file icon. After pressing refresh/reload in
Nautilus, the icon of the folder usually vanishes completely and
Nautilus throws up two error messages - both saying that it cannot
display the folder.

If I wait a short while (a minute or two) it starts working again - I
don't have to turn BT off - just wait.

[Bug 147560] Re: Kernel detects battery management wrong (MSI PR200 / System76)

2007-11-14 Thread impact
I'd like to say that I experience the same problem on a MSI-1719 (PX700)
laptop (Intel C2D, Santa Rosa chipset) and 64 bit version of Gutsy.
Gnome power manager history shows multiple AC adapter connects and
disconnects, wrong/undetected battery state and charge. The associated
screen flicker, as it dims and brightens repeatedly is very annoying.

Is there anything that can be to be done to help you fix this?

[Bug 147560] Re: Kernel detects battery management wrong (MSI PR200 / System76)

2007-11-17 Thread impact
Vinx, that's exactly how mine looks, too. What BIOS version do you have?
(I saw an upgraded BIOS version on MSI's website, I wonder if that could
help with this problem)

I have found that if I don't use the Fn + brightness up and Fn +
brightness down keys to set screen brightness I can prevent the g-p-m
from constantly re-setting the brightness. I set my screen brightness to
100% in g-p-m when connected to AC, 0% change when on battery and
uncheck the "dim screen when inactive". That way, g-p-m is still unable
to detect the correct battery charge but at least it doesn't interfere
with regular use of the computer.

[Bug 243371] Re: Instant record stops for no reason.

2009-12-31 Thread impact
This is not a bug, but a misunderstanding of how the "instant record"
feature in Kaffeine works.

Once you start instant recording the duration of the recording is set to
2 hours and it is added to your list of recordings. If you want to
change the length of recording, open the list of current recordings
(press the R key) and there you can modify it.

** Changed in: kaffeine (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1387219] Re: Mouse pointer disappears and cursor stops blinking

I noticed this on a freshly installed laptop with Utopic Unicorn. FWIW
it has two monitors connected (internal + external via HDMI).

Oddly enough, another laptop ofmine with a single screen, which was
upgraded to Utopic, does not have this problem.
