[Bug 363868] Re: BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way that Linux understands, Foxconn A7GM-S 2.0
Hi, guys: I have the same problem when I try to boot from a boot-able USB key and install a new ubuntu 9.04 system. It drop me to a busy box, and installation can not continue. I tried i386 and amd64 ISO, it's the same problem. My motherboard is JETWAY HA03, used AMD 780G chipset, AMD AlthonX2 4800+ CPU. An interesting thing is: before I decide to re-install a brand new system, I've upgrade my 8.10 to 9.04, and the system which I upgrade from 8.10 is working very fine. Anybody know how can I skip this problem and install the system from a USB key? Thanks. Again, sorry to trouble you guys who's in the mail list. Best wishes. [Bug 342898] [NEW] Realtek r8101/r8102 network adapter not working in Intrepid
Public bug reported: I installed Intrepid in my Intel D945GCLF motherboard which integrated a ATOM 230 CPU. It has a integrated R8101 network controller and adapter, and after the system boot it's report using a r8169 kernel driver. But it still cannot got DHCP IP address. and when I run ifconfig, it shows eth0 has a extremely big number of 'dropped' information. -- begin of shell log -- sysr...@atom:~$ sudo lshw -C network *-generic description: Ethernet interface product: Illegal Vendor ID vendor: Illegal Vendor ID physical id: 0 bus info: p...@:01:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: ff serial: 00:1c:c0:6f:76:84 size: 100MB/s capacity: 100MB/s width: 32 bits clock: 66MHz capabilities: bus_master vga_palette cap_list ethernet physical tp mii 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=2.3LK-NAPI duplex=full latency=255 link=yes maxlatency=255 mingnt=255 module=r8169 multicast=yes port=MII speed=100MB/s *-network DISABLED description: Ethernet interface physical id: 1 logical name: pan0 serial: 2e:b1:7d:b2:cc:49 capabilities: ethernet physical configuration: broadcast=yes driver=bridge driverversion=2.3 firmware=N/A link=yes multicast=yes sysr...@atom:~$ -- end of shell log -- ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: r8169 -- Realtek r8101/r8102 network adapter not working in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 342898] Re: Realtek r8101/r8102 network adapter not working in Intrepid
sorry I don't know how to modify the reported bug, so just attach a new comment. If you note that the "product" and "vendor" section from the above shell log, you will see "Illegal Vendor ID". After I did some search from website, I found it is not 8169 controller, but it's a 8101 controller, as following message: -- begin of shell log -- sysr...@atom:~$ lspci | grep -i ethernet 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02) -- endof shell log -- So, I try to download r8101 driver from realtek website: ftp://WebUser:realtekpwd%232...@61.56.69.20/cn/nic/r8101-1.010.00.tar.bz2 and then compile it in my laptop computer (as a normal user), I got a "r8101.ko" file. then I copy the 'r8101' from my laptop computer to my ATOM computer, then "sudo rmmod r8169" to remove old driver, and remove "r8169.ko" from " /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net/", and then copy my r8101.ko to it. and then reboot. Finally I got my network start, and works fine. It seems has some small problem on output message of lspci and lsmod, but the net work is drived and worked very well, I just upgrade the system. Hi, Here I comfirm that the problem is the same as 256331. R8101 network contrllor was using a R8169 driver, but r8169.ko can not work properly.
