[Bug 1468337] Re: OpenCPN opens for little moment in Ubuntu Mate 15.04, then closes immidiately
Open CPN comes in an untrusted PPA so you probably need to report it to them or investigate via their forums. That said, the PI is a popular topic for Ubuntu MATE. Have you tried running the program from the command line, that should give you a message or messages about what is going on and/or where it is failing. [Bug 1477730] Re: mate-tweak fails to launch with Numix theme
I have been able to "fix" it by adding the called for icon. The correct fix could be for the Numix maintainers to add this icon. Especially if there is supposed to be a standard followed as to icon naming, so that the theme works properly with MATE flavors proper. On the other hand, the python script stops when it doesn't find that icon, so the case could be made for handling that gracefully. [Bug 349988] Re: Hangs for 10 seconds when starting an admin app.
I can confirm this on Ubuntu MATE 14.04 with gparted like the user reported, and add to that that sometimes the freeze takes over the whole desktop . It freezes more like 20-25 seconds. This is additional behavior: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gksu/+bug/1433854 Summary: gksudo commands can take up to about 15 seconds to complete. This also occurs when right-clicking a folder to "Open as Administrator", from caja 1.8.2. For this reason I have added "caja" as an affected package. [Bug 1433396] Re: MATE 14.04: Window Snapping "freezes" with red background
All this from the original post - no longer see the green background appear to indicate window snapping in 15.04 MATE Beta 2. Which I think it is good because it is much cleaner looking and acting. "So far I have not noticed this in the same way with Ubuntu Mate 15.04 Beta 1 in the latest version of Virtualbox, and cannot reproduce it with the steps above. When grabbing a window to "snap maximize" it looks like it first renders it unmaximized, then you see the green background, and when you release the button after the "snap maximize" the green background goes away and the window is maximized. As you would expect. However, I was playing around with the terminal window in UM15.04-B1. 3 successive clicks in the title bar to maximize/unmaximize, and the green background for window snapping freezes. When my mouse is moved over top of the minimized program icons/rectangles in a bottom tray, the green background goes away. Moving the mouse into the top panel accomplishes this, as well as moving it to a bottom panel and returning the mouse to over the terminal. See attached screenshot." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1433396 Title: MATE 14.04: Window Snapping "freezes" with red background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1433396/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 349988] Re: Hangs for 10 seconds when starting an admin app.
@Sebastien Bacher, I'm sure that if I were in your shoes, I would be saying many of the same things. It is clearly not showing up as a major issue on https://errors.ubuntu.com. Then again, I'm not sure that opening a program as administrator is all that common for most users, so one would expect occurrence to be low. For those running applications as administrator relatively often, it may not be low. As @Troull.. points out, the issue has been around for quite a while, the difference is "back then" it didn't occur as often. By back then I'm referring to Ubuntu 11.04 and 12.04. Now with Ubuntu MATE 14.04 it happens to me almost all the time. Maybe it can be given somewhat greater importance based on that (since you asked about config-specific) and the additional information I provide below? What I'm throwing out there is the question: Is this caused by the presence of the .gksu.lock file? And the other question is: Why would that lock file be retained if the (offending) administratively-run program has been closed? Shouldn't that lock file be removed at that moment? Additional info: the problem seems to begin after there has been a .gksu.lock file created from a previous "Open as Administrator".If there is no .gksu.lock file then at the first "Open as Administrator" the issue does not occur. But when attempting a second "Open as Administrator" and the .gksu.lock is still present from the first, then the delay occurs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349988 Title: Hangs for 10 seconds when starting an admin app. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gksu/+bug/349988/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Related to the proposed workaround, I've been using Ubuntu MATE since April-2015 and already ran into this issue after the few "apt-get dist- upgrade".
