[Bug 319714] Re: "software sources" UI broken in jaunty

2009-06-12 Thread evfool
I am facing the same problem I have tried Martin's solution, I have
replaced the sources.list file with the original one, I have checked the
/usr/share/python-apt/templates/Ubuntu.info file, but I still get the
same exception. I wanted to debug the distro.py, but I have no
experience with python. Could anyone help me to find the cause of the
problem?

[Bug 468491] [NEW] Authentication dialog stays open after Authentication

2009-11-01 Thread evfool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policykit

Everytime after startup, I change the CPU frequency using the CPU frequency
scaling monitor applet. It asks for authentication using the PolicyKit
authentication agent window, I enter the password, I click on authenticate, and
the password textfield disappears, but the authentication window stays open,
and does not disappear, only if I click the close window button. The window
should disappear after authentication, not only the textfield.
Using Ubuntu 9.10 and policykit 0.9-4ubuntu1

[Bug 485636] [NEW] Can not disable GRUB2 background image

2009-11-19 Thread evfool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

After setting a grub2 background in /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme by setting the
use_bg=true, and setting the image name, running update-grub2 sets the
background, at next reboot it is displayed. If i set a non-existent image file
name, update-grub2 throws an interesting error message "Generating grub.cfg ...
No path or device is specified.
Try ``grub-probe --help'' for more information.
No path or device is specified.
Try ``grub-probe --help'' for more information." This message is not very
friendly, and gives no meaningful information.
The other, and more serious problem is that after setting the use_bg to false
with an existent and working background image, update-grub2 and restart, the
image is still shown. The only way to set grub2 back to console-only mode is to
set use_bg to false, and the imagename to a non-existent image filename. This
way after update-grub2 and restart, I get the console grub2 menu again.

[Bug 485638] [NEW] Wrong package icons in synaptic

2009-11-19 Thread evfool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

Steps to reproduce
1. Start synaptic
2. Add a PPA
3. Reload
4. Search for a package in the quicksearch from the newly added PPA
Expected result:
Package appears as not installed with the unchecked icon from the current icon
theme, the same icon as for other not installed packages
What happens:
Package appears as not installed with the unchecked icon from the default icon
theme among the other packages, which have the unchecked icon from the current
icon theme
So the icon for the newly appeared packages is wrong, but after another reload,
this is fixed, the icon changes to the expected icon.

[Bug 484528] Re: Some man pages display incorrectly in Help browser

2009-11-17 Thread evfool
The problem causing the first point is something in yelp-man-parser.c in method
parser_handle_linetag, working on it to figure out. This is a gnome bug, should
I report it upstream?
The second point can also be fixed on the yelp side, but it can also be fixed
in the man page and it should be fixed there in my opinion, becausein the
man-pages font conventions state that
"Any reference to another man page should be written with the name in bold,
always followed by the section number, formatted in Roman (normal) font,
without any separating spaces (e.g.,
intro(2)). The preferred way to write this in the source file is:
   .BR intro (2)
". This convention is clearly violated in the adduser man page source. Please
comment.

Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce
1. Right-click somewhere to open a context menu

change => notification should appear etc.
Current behaviour: nothing changes=> notification doesn't appear
Tried on Ubuntu 9.10 with all updates, libgnome 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.

Could you please tell me where to find this bug, if it was reported

changing this bug to Invalid is not justified, in my opinion. Thank you

[Bug 482499] Re: Update manager says that running on battery power even though i am on ac power

2009-11-13 Thread evfool
Was the update manager displaying the battery icon in the notification
area? When hovering, did it display running on battery info or something
like no information available? Because when updating ACPI-related
packages for a few seconds, the battery icon appears for me too, but
when hovering, it says something like no information available.

me, although I have all the packages updated. Anyone any ideas why?

[Bug 471224] Re: [Jaunty, Karmic] screen flickers black randomly with nvidia 185driver and compiz enabled

This happened to me too, on my old laptop, a Dell Latitude D820 with an
NVidia Quadro NVS120M video card, but as far as I can remember, it
happened to me after disabling compiz too, so it's likely an NVidia bug,
so the ubuntu bug list might not be the best place to report it...
unfortunately
