[Bug 256621] Re: [CVE-2008-3459] OpenVPN vulnerability allows arbitrary command execution via crafted configuration

2008-11-03 Thread didier
Hi,

In my understanding it only removes abilities to set remotely the route
*software* (/sbin/route , whatever).
Something that:
- I can't find a case why you may want to do such thing.
- Is an undocumented feature.

I haven't tested it but from quickly reading the code you still can
remotely change route after applying the patch.

[Bug 51871] Re: gtk apps reading accelerator keystrokes incorrectly with alternative keymaps

2006-08-13 Thread didier
Same here on Edgy with french/english keyboards, in gedit:
CTRL Q is using CTRL A action (french keyboard layout is azerty, qsdf...).

in gtk/gtkkeyhash.c
_gtk_key_hash_lookup() returns both exact matches and matches with a different
keyboard group (it seems to be a feature).

As gedit TextView window doesn't have a binding for CTRL+Q it catches
the 'q -> a'  entry from group 1, cf gedit/gedit-
window.c:gedit_window_key_press_event(), and uses CTRL A binding.

#if 0 the partial match in _gtk_key_hash_lookup() or #if 0 the
gedit_window_key_press_event() fix it.

I don't understand the rational behind the partial match logic for keybinding,
IMO it's confusing.

[Bug 19390] Re: sometimes mounts both raw device and partition

2006-08-26 Thread didier
It's a bigger issue with hybrid CD (with both iso and hfs partitions.)

I'm using a small ppc rescue disk on a USB stick, (copied with dd)

mount:

/dev/sdb on /media/PPCRCD type iso9660
(rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8)
/dev/sdb1 on /media/PPCRCD-1 type iso9660
(rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8)

sdb and sdb1 is are same thing but mac-fdisk -l /dev/sdb:
 /dev/sdb
#type namelength base( size )
 system
/dev/sdb1 Apple_partition_map Apple2 @ 1 ( 1.0k)
 Partition map
/dev/sdb2 Apple_HFS PPCRCD 102100 @ 16 ( 49.9M)
 HFS

And there's no way to get to /dev/sdb2 where the data are.
from a terminal:
mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt/cdrom
mount: special device /dev/sdb2 does not exist

It's the same when using a real CD (drive on hdc) and I suspect that
multi sessions CD have issues too.

[Bug 57796] automount and bad CD (Rock Ridge extensions)

2006-08-26 Thread didier
Public bug reported:

Hi
I have a CD made with something called DiscRecording 2.1.17f1 (from Apple?)

it's a folder with 26 files.
It works well on a Mac or a Windows box.
On Linux I'm seeing only 25 files.

isoinfo -R -i /dev/hdc returns

Obviously as Linux is the only one using Rock Ridge extensions I'd be
nice if it triple checks for stuff like that (waste a lot of time on

[Bug 57968] Re: "best fit" isn't default

2006-08-28 Thread didier
Currently the default is whatever have been used last, more or less.

It's a (minor) nuisance when you have PDF with very different page
sizes.

If you open a 100x100mm flyer zoom it at 400% and then try to open a 2600x950mm
kakemono it doesn't work on a 32bits CPU. You can try to open evince with no
file but then you can't change the zoom factor! So open a recent file, change
the zoom, exit, and retry the big one For smaller sizes it works but it's
very slow, evince can use more than 1.5GBytes of RAM very quickly.

For me, whatever you want but not the last one used :) It's ok to keep it when
opening a recent file though, as it's done now. Best fit may be the fastest.

BTW adding the page size in properties would be great too.

If there's no objection I could to do it, shouldn't be hard.

This bug is a duplicate of 57701.

The culprit is the UUID=. in fstab, if you use /dev/hd it will show.
The bug is in gnome-vfs-code, hald /etc/fstab and /proc/mount don't use the
same value for the device.

gnome-vfs logic for /etc/fstab, /proc/mount is incompatible with the new UUID=
scheme in fstab, they don't use the same name for the device, and there's at
least an other bad interaction with hald.

BTW what is the logic for mounting partitions from an external drive?

[Bug 58884] Re: Random keyboard failure in X

2006-09-12 Thread didier
Can you retry after upgrading?

There's a change in Metacity which could fix it.

I believe I've seen it too. in my case shading/unshading the window by
clicking on the window title solved it, you may have to change yours
windows preferences.

[Bug 60145] Re: Evince/xpdf incompletely prints last line of pdf

2006-09-12 Thread didier
xpdf doesn't use popler.

It'd be a cups or gs issue, or acroread resizing the output.

Can you post the output of
pdfinfo --box yourfile.pdf

and your printer driver name? ( I guess HP-DeskJet_3820-hpijs.ppd)

Are the pdf available somewhere legally?

[Bug 60145] Re: Evince/xpdf incompletely prints last line of pdf

2006-09-12 Thread didier
Yes, popler is a fork of xpdf pdf rendering but by default they differ
for printing.

xpdf use its own functions aka pdftops and send a ps file.

evince copy the pdf, which is translated later by cups with gs.

And I made a mistake myself :)
its
pdfinfo -box
not --box.

[Bug 60145] Re: Evince/xpdf incompletely prints last line of pdf

2006-09-14 Thread didier
Thanks,

Your printer has HWMargins: 18 36 18 9 points and havn't a full bleed mode.
It can't print in the last half inch.

If I'm right when printing the test page with acroread you should see
these margins.

I haven't acroread for linux (ppc box) but on a Mac by default it ajusts
to margin so it prints the test page at 93% centered (for a4).

What's you want it's the same thing in Evince printing dialog box.

[Bug 51871] Re: gtk apps reading accelerator keystrokes incorrectly with alternative keymaps

2006-09-21 Thread didier
Yes it is, cf.
Bug #23244 of which this one is a duplicate.
I haven't marked it as such because malone search ignores duplicates.

There's a gtk bug number, and there's a patch too at least for testing a
saner (IMO) behavior both for latin/non latin and latin/latin, but no
feedback from the gtk bugzilla.

I don't mind playing bozo the clown, but this time when I'll have to say
that yes we can have multi layouts as in osx and windows but that
accelerators are broken, ouch it will be a hard sell. As a matter of
fact it could be the straw.

[Bug 61767] External disks PPC bootstrap partition are automounted

2006-09-21 Thread didier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

cf.:
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi

volume.ignore is only set to true if storage.removable and
storage.hotpluggable are false.

I don't understand why, it clutters the desktop and breaks ybin. It
seems to work well if volume.ignore is moved outside the .
