[Bug 587185] Re: [Realtek ALC889A] Playback problem, stuttering audio & video
I get these same issues on 12.04 LTS 64 bit. I have a Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] SBx00 Azalia sound system, which I have been told is really a realtek. It skips video and audio. Only for a second. Actually, it doesn't skip so much as it plays a second or two over again, and the plays regularly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587185 Title: [Realtek ALC889A] Playback problem, stuttering audio & video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/587185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for that. It clears up several issues. So the answer isn't that it won't show up on 14.04 eventually, the answer is that the key part needed, mate-session-manager, will need to be added to the repos before anyone can install mate natively in 14.04 without special repositories. [Bug 1019496] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 hangs on reboot
I would love to answer you Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch), but I no longer own the machine that had this issue. I owned the Acer Aspire 10.1" AO531h. It would shut down properly but not restart properly. I bought the Compaq CQ57 229wm model, and it no longer had this issue. So it is clearly linked to the hardware on the Aspire. [Bug 880116] Re: ubuntu 11.10 hangs on reboot
The guys at irc.freenode.org #ubuntu think this might be a problem with processes not terminating properly. If this is the case, it makes sense. The reboot signal is given, most processes are terminated, but for some reason something just refuses to terminate, leaving the system to hang, waiting for said process to die. I thought I would mention this, just a possibility. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880116 Title: ubuntu 11.10 hangs on reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/880116/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1024800] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 switches to Chinese language
Public bug reported: Again I had to fudge a report through ubuntu-bug to get this posted. Make a general bug report possible, because there are a lot of times there is no way to know what is causing the issue... On to the bug. Ubuntu 12.04 changes to Chinese, and using the language suport system in system settings gets you nowhere. It absolutely will not change it back to English. I did not want, nor did I try to change it to Chinese, it did so after a boot up. I found the solution to this problem, but that does not mean the bug is solved, and so I am posting this. The solution right now, is stated here: http://dennygoot.blogspot.com/2012/07/ubuntu-1204-changes-to-chinese-with-no.html Please help us remove this bug. [Bug 1024805] [NEW] Launchpad needs to allow generic bug reports
Public bug reported: There are many times where no matter how much you want to, you have no clue as to where this bug resides, and at best you can only discribe what you know to be true about it in your own words... When https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs doesn't help because it's just not obvious, no matter what you do, what package or process it belongs to. So the only way to fix this bug is to add a easy to access generic bug report option to the website, and also to the tools such as ubuntu-bug. If this option does exist (atleast at the website) it needs to be easier to find. Again I had to fudge a report through ubuntu-bug to get this posted. Make a general bug report possible. [Bug 1024805] Re: Launchpad needs to allow generic bug reports
I believe this attitude will only serve to slow the progress of getting information about bugs reported, and make this tool NOT user friendly... I believe that people who do not know how to "fudge" a report, or who just don't want to do something like this unless it's very straight forward, which this is not, will shy away from this process. I agree though, that a person should do what he/she can to get this information, if at all possible. Instead of ignoring this, let's see if we can fix it. A page that gave you the option to use a generic report option, along with a request to try and use the tools mentioned at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs, with a warning that a generic report will be less likely to have success because it is generic, would be something I would implement. In any case, I hope that you understand, I mean no disrespect to anyone from this community. I just see this as a serious problem, and would like it to recieve the attention I believe it needs. [Bug 668415] Re: Movement of Unity launcher
Mark, and/or everyone at the UI team. Imagine that I am a new home pc user, told by my friends that Ubuntu is great. Most likely I am a current Windows user, and am used to the button being on the bottom. I might be able to get behind the useability or feel of the Gnome 2 environment, if simply because I can put the button on the bottom. Now I am using Unity. Nothing moves to where I want it. I can't make any changes to how I want it. Also because I am not a programmer, I can't make a patch or change it by changing the code. I am now alienated, and frustrated. The next person who asks about Ubuntu is going to here that I went back to Windows because of how awful the experience was. The desktop experience MUST be flexible, or you will see a dramatic loss of users to Ubuntu... I am only one voice, but I myself am writing this from Xubuntu, simply because of Unity. My personal feelings aside (I absolutely hate Unity)... It has always been the job of the designer to fit the wants and needs of the user, NOT the other way around. If it where the other way around we would all be running terminal emulators, and there wouldn't be a gui... (most likely) I am able to make changes to my linux world because I am an avid linux user, to the point that I could do everything I need to do in the cli. But the majority can not, and I feel a responsibility to speak up for the masses. Anyone reading the posts on the net knows there are now a multitude (a vast one IMO) of users who are so frustrated with this "god aweful" user interface (not my description) that they are looking elsewhere. If it is your intent to make Unity the desktop environment for everyone, and not just for netbooks and other unique devices, then Unity has sorely missed the mark, and should be seriously reworked. I own a 10" netbook. I actually much prefer xfce or gnome 2, and even gnome 3 to Unity. Currently I am using XFCE4 on it, without problem. In closing, I just want to say that we all need to look at other's points of view, and saying "you fix it" is never the answer. And that's basically what you did Mark, you basically said, "you fix it, I won't..." This bug has caused problems with me installing wine apps, because my apps report not enough disk space to install. -Denny -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585472 Title: File System Properties reports 128 TB of use -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 697965] [NEW] Launchpad and Firefox combo problem
Public bug reported: Whenever I load luanchpad.net with firefox the whole system slows to a crawl and the page is barely functional. I can load the same page(s) under midori and I do not have this problem. It's so bad that ubuntu grays out firefox whenever I am on the site, but when I am on midori on launchpad.net It never happens. I put this under display, but in fact I wasn't certain where it belongs, and choosing other gives you a strange error, so please forgive me if this is in the wrong spot. -Denny ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: xorg 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-23.41-generic 2.6.35.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 260.19.06 Mon Sep 13 04:29:19 PDT 2010 GCC version: gcc version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5) Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Jan 5 22:32:46 2011 DkmsStatus: vboxhost, 3.2.12, 2.6.35-23-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 260.19.06, 2.6.35-23-generic, x86_64: installed InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-23-generic root=UUID=9fd9a30c-04ed-49d5-b472-a4a8c464f7ce ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze dmi.bios.date: 01/09/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD dmi.bios.version: 6.00 PG dmi.board.name: K8M800-8237 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvr6.00PG:bd01/09/2008:svn:pn:pvr:rvn:rnK8M800-8237:rvr:cvn:ct3:cvr: glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: maverick architecture: x86_64 kernel: 2.6.35-23-generic ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug freeze maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697965 Title: Launchpad and Firefox combo problem -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
