I have just read

MIDI, unfortunately is not an open file format, so Ubuntu does not
support it by default.

Ubuntu should then inform the user the reason why it cannot play midi
format files.

I managed to fix (via workaround) for this problem by installing gutsy and then
installing "Envy".

Envy is not core ubuntu software it is written by some italian guy but
the code needs to be included Ubuntu as it solves a lot of monitor

I did install the deb file manually, a lot of ubuntu users use this
software so maybe the upgrade script needs a bit more error handling
incase the user already has the software installed.

[Bug 178488] compiz window decoration disappears

2007-12-24 Thread blokeinlondon
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Heron 8.04

compiz window decorations disappear.

I can add them back using compiz "advance desktop effects settings" but
they seem to disappear if gnome menu bar don't have auto hide selected.
