[Bug 219587] Re: 03-turn_on_buggy-repeat_handling.dpatch causes slowdown in Evolution

2008-07-04 Thread beer
Evolution now scrolls somewhat faster, but the scrollbar now severely "lags",
which means it is only updated with approx. 1 fps (so the email view scrolls
but the scrollbar itself stays at the old position for some ms and then pops to
the right place).
Plus I have the opposite behaviour of Gustavo Carneiro, gmail is NOW scrolling
very slow, I believe it used to scroll fast before this update.
firefox seems to scroll a bit faster on other pages, though, but causes X to
consume 50% cpu (this was the same before the update).

I tried to enable
Option  "AccelMethod" "XAA"
in the Section "Device" in xorg.conf, but it makes no difference, except for
mplayer not running anymore.

I believe this whole issue might be related to bug

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/232401

I reported earlier.

I have the same bug.
It's very annoying, the priority should be set to "high".
I only have People which also have Pidgin, so I cannot confirm if it only
happens for Pidgin users.

[Bug 232401] Re: X slow / high cpu usage with firefox

2008-11-22 Thread beer
Yes, the bug is still there.
Especially good to trigger by using the google eyes gadget I linked above.
I have three systems, two with Ubuntu 8.02 and one with 8.10, all with
different graphics cards.
On my main system, the bug in Firefox with highlighting the links has gone, but
not on my other system.

[Bug 256041] Re: gnome-panel crashes when clicking launcher on second screen

2009-04-23 Thread beer
I have the same bug on Ubuntu 9.04.
I use dual head with two nvidia cards.
The panel won't even start. It starts and crashes, then restarts and so on.
I have to kill it with pkill.
Is there a way to restrict the panel to one specific screen, hiding the other
from it, as a workaround until a fix will be released? Then i could use fbpanel
on the second head.

[Bug 236971] [NEW] xorg memory leak (not compiz, not pixmap) with intel gm

2008-06-02 Thread beer
Public bug reported:

I am observing a large memory leak in Xorg which is neither due to unfreed
pixmap memory (it stays low)
 Monitoring 25 clients. XErrors: 0
  Pixmaps:7206K total,
nor dissapears when I close the application which causes it (in this case, I
can trigger it with google earth, which becomes unusable after 1 minute because
linux starts swapping).

This happens both with and without compiz.

The result after running (and "using") google earth for one minute:
7702 root  20   0  856m 455m 97 20 S  4.3 22.7   1:28.16 Xorg

The only way I can get my system usable again is by restarting Xorg.

Xorg gradually eats away my memory to the point of inusability even
without google earth.

I am using an intel gm 945 graphics card:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
with the default repos driver.

The problem does not seem to be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/98783
or
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/101943

[Bug 232401] [NEW] X slow / high cpu usage with firefox

2008-05-20 Thread beer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I don't know wheter this is a firefox, a Xorg or a nvidia driver problem.
But I guess it's a bug in X, as it happens both with firefox 2.0, firefox 3.0
and epiphany-browser (using mozillas rendering engine).

Description: When highlighting links in firefox (moving the mouse above them),
for some links, the cpu usage of X goes up to nearly 100 % (for one cpu), and
the link is highlighted with noticeable slowdown. This happens for example on
the following page:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/List
with the links in the _main text_ on the right. It does _not_ happen with the
links in the left pane.
Additionally, the "new" version of google mail is almost unusable, including
scrolling. Same problem with cpu usage of X.
The problem also occurs when I move a window before these links.

Another way to trigger the problem (for testing) is using this google gadget
http://www.google.de/ig/adde?hl=de&moduleurl=eyes.xml&source=imag
the cpu usage of X goes immediately to 100% when you move the eye position.

I am using Kernel "2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux" with Ubuntu 8.04 with an
GeForce 7900 GS with the nvidia-glx driver and TwinView.

Excerpt from top, with the problem visible:

5519 root  20   0  158m  63m  15m R 17.1  1.6   8:03.98 /usr/bin/X
:0 -br -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7

I have a intel 4 cpu system.

The problem can not be solved by switching compiz off.

Package version:
xorg:
  Installiert:1:7.3+10ubuntu10
firefox:
  Installiert:3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3
nvidia-glx:
  Installiert:1:96.43.05+2.6.24.12-16.34

The problem does not happen with different browsers (for example
konqueror or opera).

I just downloaded tibe 5 for during those sugestion but I can only
boot the live cd with the noapic option and then I dont have mouse or
keyboard support (I can not write those commands).

Would it help if I did boot in debian Etch and use the commands there?

I belive that this bug is the same as 54621.

[Bug 278143] Jeg har brug for din hjælp.

2014-06-12 Thread beer

[Bug 160113] move to trash dialog button text is "_: Verb Trash"

2007-11-04 Thread Paul Beer
Public bug reported:

1) Right click on file on Desktop
2) Select "Move to Trash"

The resulting dialog box has a button labelled "_:Verb Trash". It should
just be labelled "Trash".

Note that my locale is set to Canada and I saw similar text preceding
the items in my KMenu items after upgrading to 7.10. Obviously, I am
running Kubuntu.

I recall seeing reports from other non-US locales reporting similar
behaviour.

Steps to reproduce:
copied filename on windows host (Wordpad) and pasted to Ubuntu shell (same
with `touch`)
```
osboxes@osboxes:~/dev/eXtraGames/02$ vim 07_extract_snippets.sh
osboxes@osboxes:~/dev/eXtraGames/02$ ls
07_extract_snippets.sh   stdin  test
osboxes@osboxes:~/dev/eXtraGames/02$ mv 07_extract_snippets.sh 07.sh
mv: cannot stat '07_extract_snippets.sh': No such file or directory
Today the same resume error appears again with fresh install of Ubuntu precise
and "precise-updates" - NOT "proposed".
