When I tried to boot from the latest live CD (kubuntu 8.04 alpha 2) I got this
messege just after the menu:
[56.574566] ..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
[56.574566] kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Boot
with apic=debug and send a report. Then booting with the 'noapic' option
