[Bug 282378] Re: Flickering "Log Out of the Session" dialog after resuming from suspend or hibernation.

2009-04-17 Thread altery

I finally took the time to trace it down.

Short answer: the problem is not gnome-session (it just makes the
problem apparent), sorry for wasting your time.

Long answer: After resuming, the IR receiver component of my TV card
went mad and generated lots of HAL events that caused the
logout/shutdown dialog to appear. For the records, my card is a Leadtek
Winfast 2000XP and the problematic part is the CX 8800 IR receiver. As a
workaround, I created a fdi file that excludes the device from HAL.

[Bug 282378] [NEW] Flickering "Log Out of the Session" dialog after resuming from suspend or hibernation.

2008-10-12 Thread altery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

After resuming to X from suspend or hibernation, the "Log Out of the
Session" appears and disappears continuously. This behavior seems to
intercept keyboard and mouse from other windows, at least it is not
possible to move other windows or type something for example in a
console, which makes the system (at least X) unusable. If I just restart
X, the same problem occurs again. Virtual terminals work well.

I'm running Intrepid beta with the latest updates.

** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)

[Bug 282378] Re: Flickering "Log Out of the Session" dialog after resuming from suspend or hibernation.

2008-10-13 Thread altery

 * Is this reproducible?

Yes, it happens every time.

 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

1. Start Ubuntu normally into the graphical environment.
2. Put the system to suspend using the new shutdown / suspend / hibernate
dialog.
3. After the system has halted, restart it.
4. The system comes up again. Enter password to unlock the screen.
5. The problem occurs (logout dialog goes mad).

I'm not sure if it is the problem of gnome-session, as it might also be
caused by gnome-power-manager I think.

[Bug 283004] Re: compiz.real crashed while arranging panel applets

2008-10-14 Thread altery

I've exactly the same problem, just that it happens immediately after bootup (I
don't need to rearrange the panel). Compiz works fine even after the crash. (If
I logout, X doesn't start properly again, but I doubt that this is related).

I'm running Intrepid on a system upgraded from Hardy using the latest
proprietary drivers from Nvidia (177.80).

[Bug 110073] Re: Evolution-exchange uses 100% CPU

2008-05-19 Thread altery
I experience the same behavior as DavidL and Andy Kniss:

As soon as I start composing a new message, the CPU usage of gnome-
keyring-daemon goes up to 50% (on dual core CPU) and doesn't go down
until I exit Evolution. I use Evolution with Exchange and IMAP accounts.

I'm under Hardy 64bit.

[Bug 323197] Re: Pidgin has resource leak

2009-03-04 Thread altery
I have the same issue, after about 12h pidgin ran out of file handles.

~$ lsof | grep pidgin | wc -l
1339

Examples of open handles are:

pidgin 7018 altery 761r REG8,3 55008 5685274
/usr/share/sounds/purple/receive.wav
pidgin 7018 altery 731r FIFO0,6 642209 pipe

I'm running pidgin 2.5.2 on Intrepid x86.

[Bug 215491] Re: Firefox requests which application to use when "open the containing folder" option is selected

2008-04-16 Thread altery
I've got the same behaviour:

After downloading a file in firefox 3 in Hardy right clicking in the FF3
download manager and selecting "open containing folder", firefox
displays a window and ask for an application to open the file with. The
same happens after selecting "open" instead of "open containg folder"
even though the file type has an associated application (for example for
.zip oder .deb files).

I've got reports of other Hardy users that have this behaviour even
after a fresh installation (I did an upgrade from Gutsy).

The problem went away after installing the package "firefox-3.0-gnome-
