[Bug 346187] Re: Screen blinks to desktop when OSD message appears over fullscreen window
OK, "manzur" I think we share the same vision of targets. I just wanted to point out that dropping compiz might be waste of much work and resources, but I am frank to admit to know only a bit about the OS architecture, thus perhaps taking over (or better integrating) of cleaned compiz code into gnome is not technically possible and the alternative branch of development should be prefered. As I said my remark was mainly economic by its motivation. Cleaning and merging of compiz code is a good idea. But let me know that one of the most criticized feature of KDE 4 is their compositing which is far behind compiz. [Bug 351510] Re: me-tv unusually slow, often freezes
I am still using the version 0.8.6 and after some experimenting it works well. The problem with freezing for a long time happened after installation at first start when I imported a config file containing 25 channels and the database was being filled with the EPG data. Then the EPG and Sqlite caused the me-tv being irresponsive and grayed. After a minute or so about I killed me-tv. Then I had to purge the ~/.me-tv/ folder etc. As Michael Lamothe was indicating he could not reproduce this behaviour and he is the developer I decided to install libsqlite3-dev (development) package and started the me-tv again. This time I let it be grayed for a few minutes. Then I minimized and unminimize it. After that the me-tv gui returned to colour mode and since then I can use it. It is hard to say what helped: the development package or subsequent long waiting for the initial database filling ... When I started the me-tv first time today it grayed for about 10 seconds (updating the database I guess) and since then it works without a problem. -- me-tv unusually slow, often freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351510 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm that there is no improvement after all upgrades and everything I wrote in the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/281949 is still valid: My USB bluetooth adapter worked well under Hardy. Under Intrepid the Bluetooth manger can only detect connectible devices in neighborhood, but any attempt for pairing them (when pairing is started from PC) is unsuccessful - there appear no dialogues for "key" both on my PC and mobiles. But I can pair mobile phones to my PC, when I start pairing from a phone to be paired. I remember I faced the the same problem after having installed the Kubuntu 7.10. (the icon of unmounted USB drive) 5) When I left clicked on it for the first time in any of the above mentioned programs it was mounted read-write for me as user. 6) When I safely removed the drive its icon did not disappeared but only changed back from "mounted drive" to the "unmounted drive". This mounting behaviour described in points 3 to 6 is stable from then. [Bug 461358] Re: Me-tv ignores a change from dayligh saving summer time
I must apologize. The reported problem is not probably a bug, but a result of poor time-transition management of one multiplex that broadcasts at Prague. Switching of EPG values from CEST (Central European Summer Time) to CET took one day for some stations, but will take yet a few days for remaining ones. So at present I have in Me-Tv mix of true and wrong time values depending on station. [Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files
I think that I have found the cause. If you use gconf-editor and navigate to the key "/apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected" then you will see a chain of encodings which are considered during auto detection. When I did so, I could see that any encodings for the Czech language were missing even though I had installed complete Czech language support via System -> Administration -> Language support. 1) Workaroud: -- a) find the right encodings: Start gedit -> Open -> Character encoding "button-list" -> Add and Remove. Here you can add encodings that will be added to the "button-list". Select and add all that you intend to use. Then press OK and then close gedit. b) add the encodings to the autodetection key: Start the gconf-editor, search for "/apps/gedit-2/preferences/encodings/auto_detected". Under the key "auto_detected" in the key "shown_in_menu" you will see all encodings that you added in the previous step. So, double click the key "auto_detected" and add the same encondings to this key. Then you can sort them e.g. like "UTF-8, ," That is all. For me it works well. 2) BugFix -- I assume that local encodings relating to a language installed through the language support should be automatically added to those two encoding keys of gedit, because the user probably writes and reads in more languages and will need it. -- Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289939 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 289939] Re: Gedit encoding autodetection fails on all cp1250 files
That is true. And at the moment it is not a bug but rather an inconvenience, because when a user installs additional language support (especially spell-checking) it is probable he or she will have files also in these additional languages. Perhaps, these auto-detection encoding options should be included into gedit "Preferences" with the same dialogue window that is used for adding encondings for file opening. Or eve better both gedit keys "auto_detected" & "shown_in_menu" could be editable via "Preferences" in this way. That would be helpful and would save time of users ... I just installed network-manager from https://launchpad.net/~network- manager/+archive/trunk to Karmic 64bit and I can make DSL connection via nm. Thank you for your effective fix. Well done ! Let me have a few questions / remarks: 1) I have manually commented out sections created by pppoeconf in /etc/network/interfaces in order to have only the following section effective: # # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # Is it all right? Is it enough? 2) There is again the problem of "insufficient privileges" when one wants to edit any already existing DSL connection with the "for all users" range of effect.
